Look, it’s never going to be fair, so let’s just all be glad it ain’t the Yankees
If it is just money we are talking about then everyone on that list of suitors is capable of paying. But you will have to factor in the city, quality of life, comfort for their family and the management/team. Taxes I think factor in less than most people think. In the end it is where the player wants to play and who he wants to play for and having an owner willing to throw gazzillions of cash a players way doesn’t hurt.
Broken system
Not a Dodgers fan but other owners just need to be less cheap
I’m not a Dodgers fan, but love that they spend so willingly.
Every team could spend more. Why don’t they? Cheapskate owners. The question shouldn’t be why are the Dodgers allowed to spend so much, ask why your team spends so little.
I wait to react to Dodger FA signings until I see how negatively reddit reacts
yesss
What are they “getting away” with ?
You understand other teams could simply spend money ?
Am I pissed that the team I root for is more a real estate investment company for a billionaire family rather than a big market baseball team? Sure
Am I pissed at the Dodgers for maybe being the most well run pro sports franchise in the world ?
Not really.
Off topic but I really hate how instead of saying Paul’s name they said “livvy’s boyfriend is a CY young finalist”
As a Cubs fan it’s just frustrating because they could’ve been close to this. Now I’m not saying they’d get every free agent, location is still important and while Chicago itself is great the area and convenience doesn’t compare to being on a coast.
But they have the money. So much money. They keep raising prices on everything related to the fan experience while cutting their own costs at every corner. They act like some small market poverty team that’s lucky to be able to field a full major league roster. They’re the 4th most valuable franchise in baseball with a value of over $4 billion. The fact that they ever let themselves get priced out of a negotiation is insulting.
Its the way they do it though. How they act like they’re in on every big name and there’s a chance they’ll finally spend some real money when we all know it’s bullshit.
I had a dream last night that the dodgers signed Paul Skenes and Blake Snell and I woke up to seeing the dodgers signed Blake Snell
Funny thing how people are, back in the George Steinbrenner days of buying up all the talent the Dodger fans cried their eyes out saying he buys all the talent to win. It’s not fair. So the Dodger fans are all laughing and making a joke about doing the same. lol I’m calling hypocrites lol
Spending money certainly skews favorably but it is no certain guarantee of success.
Not only do the Dodgers spend a lot of money, they just won a World Series. Winners attract players that want to win, and some are snakes like Kevin Durant who join contenders, but as free agents it’s their right. The Dodgers are the team of the moment to hate, but it’s no different than we hated the Yankees or Red Sox for being able to spend so much and attract players that wanted to win. Even though the NFL and NBA have salary caps, the best teams usually have the best players that want to play for them for a chance of a title. That’s what made the Patriots an attractive destination for good players to go to for almost 20 years, Brady helped. Also, fuck the Dodgers, Yankees, Warriors, Lakers, and Chiefs.
Again your guy’s frustration are pointed in the wrong direction. The Dodgers are not breaking any rules here, your team owners are just CHEAP AS FUCK!
He will be on the dodgers in 5 years.
Everyone complaining about the Dodgers spending money because they are a big market team ignores the Padres. They were at the top of the food chain the last few years with payroll and are definitely not one of the big markets. Some owners want to win, some owners want to make money, few want to do both.
Anyone who thinks I’m actually complaining about the Dodgers needs to watch Breaking Bad
Man steinbrenners really gonna sit back and watch this shit wtf
WHy cant they? Other teams just need to make better offers
They’re the model franchise. They built a pipeline that allowed for this. They’re also not even way ahead in payroll with the other top teams. They’re just a really smart and well organized club. Wish my team was like that.

This is how I read the subject. 🤣⚾️💙🤍🏆
You know when you’re playing Monopoly and 3/4 way through it, someone owns Park Place and Boardwalk with hotels all up and down that street and you’re at the corner begging for change?
Its funny seeing Yankees fans making these memes
We should all feel bad for poor NYC who just cant compete salary wise
Meanwhile if this meme was accurate where is the homeless guy (Oakland fan) in the background glaring at them?
I think it’s so convenient for everyone to just blame cheap owners. They absolutely are a problem. The only issue is teams like the Mets and padres took quarterly losses over and over to have the rosters they do now. Sidler was dying of cancer and cohen is stupid rich with a child like obsession with getting a ring. There quite literally isn’t 30 billionaires in the world willing to lose money fielding a competitive baseball team. You have to love the sport. Other leagues like the NFL and NBA figured it out with BOTH a salary cap and floor. Anyone who is telling you it’s only the cheap owners being a problem is likely just a dodger fan. BOTH a floor AND cap are necessary if we ever want to figure out baseball’s parity issue.
Get ready for some Manchester City level shit in the MLB.
Look other teams like the Mets, Yankees, Phillies, Giants and padres try to spend money but the players are choosing Dodgers, I think it’s has to do more with organization philosophy & other non monetary reasons
Is this what it feels like? Fuck man no wonder most everyone hates us.
The fans that keep arguing that teams can spend an unlimited amount of money don’t understand how rich people work. They aren’t paying these athletes out of their pocket, they have to recoup the cost through the team. That’s why it continues to cost so much to go to a game.
And we all expect Sasaski will be a Dodger too, right?
Dammit.
cubs fan not a dodgers fan i get the frustration but also players are people and want to work where they are comfortable or have a chance to play in october. Accepting deferred money only hurts their wallet but if the dodgers coaching staff, facilities, and in Snell’s case west coast location is worth 20 million then cant really argue with it.

Any team can do the same thing dodgers are doing… but they ain’t…

I found this article interesting.

The funny thing is Skenes is a future dodger
It must be good for baseball. Sigh…….
