It really feels like kicking a dead horse at this point. Healthy scratch , trade, leave of absence, line demotion. Where do you go from here?
Nicky Bobby’s dream might be to have the Robertsons unite in Dallas like the Nylanders in Toronto.
On top of everything his 1 goal was in garbage time when the game was already iced.
It’s actually insanely impressive that in 19 GP he hasn’t produced a single secondary assist despite often playing with someone like Nylander or even Tavares.
Forget healthy scratch…dude might be off the team once everyone gets healthy.
Nicky, literally McDavid in the preseason, Bobby.
Why would they healthy him when they’ve got no one else. Agreed re: his performance and it’s been done recently as well but now? Nope. This is a prime opportunity for him to maybe dig out of it where he’d otherwise get demoted or sat.
Wow this was literally my nightmare every year when I played hockey, that I would light up the preseason and then do jack shit later
Time to trade him. He’s gotten his chance and he’s not doing anything with it.
In video game analogy, Nick “Pub Stomper” Robertson
I’m shocked at how poorly he has been. He was incredible in the preseason, and now he is not only not producing (at all), but also a liability.
All this after he demanded a trade. He is really at rock bottom.
Guy can’t compete against NHL regulars because they dont give the same space as AHLers. Guy has a room temp game IQ when he can’t carry the puck past people anymore.
bro is going to get traded for a bag of pucks and then put up 30 goals for someone else next year. Its the way of the leaf

The only reason he’s playing is the injuries. He always looks like he’s trying hard, but nothing is happening for him, and at this point it doesn’t even look like it’s going to come together any time soon.
Guy will be on the waiver wire as soon as the leafs need the roster spot.
He’s having a tough run and is probably revealing himself to be a bubble player on a competitor and I’m not very high on him either – but the amount of attention/discussion dedicated to Robertson is crazy.
The way he’s played last few games =zero confidence.

He doesn’t know how to play to his strengths. He’s just not an intelligent hockey player. Send him to a garbage team and give him minutes. Maybe he can figure it out.

Robertsons time with the team was up as soon as Alex Nylander signed a one way deal, they’re just waiting for healthy players to return before putting Nicky on waivers or trading him. I really wanted to like him too, I thought he could’ve been a depth scorer for us in the playoffs.
Would be nice if wasn’t so many injured
Trade him for a bag of pucks or waive him and make room for another Marlie to have a shot. It’s too bad, but Nicky Bobby looks lost at the NHL level.

Yes. He’s been bad. He’s put up 47% xG with ample opportunity up and down the line-up. 1 goal, 0 assists in 19 games? That’s old-school Enforcer level numbers. Tie Domi, for example, never put up a year that bad. He needs to sit for a couple games if this is all he brings.
Robertson needs to step up, ESPECIALLY after holding out through training camp.
Trade him while he has some semblance of value.

Not yet, but only because hes a forward right now on a roster so banged up that we are considering putting defenceman on wings.
When we get healthy again that will be a very real possibility, especially when guys like Minten and Grebs proving themselves out there. And contrary to the masses, I still have some faith baby Nylander might yet prove himself.

He’s still young, I agree he has been struggling so far but come on… With his salary having next to no impact on the cap space he is still worth taking a gamble on.
If you want to make a healthy scratch, maybe look towards Domi? Dude’s salary is 4x Robertson’s and he has been mediocre at best last season and straight up awful this one.
That’s not even an acceptable beer league stat line 😬
