I’m indifferent about trading arenado. The thing is, it’s very unlikely you’re able to replace his production next year which would leave us in a worse spot. That being said, if we’re able to rip off the bandaid and trade him for pitching or pieces for the future, it would be worth it.
It’s not required, and it’ll take a unicorn of a situation to do it because they’re not looking at a salary dump.
Third base could be covered but nothing will match his defense, which isn’t elite but still well above average.
So I’m in a not sweating it too much right now.
Baseball savant tells me last year looked a lot uglier than what it was. He’s got a top 15% glove, average bat in a league with some damn good pitching right now, and if he could have another red hot couple weeks like he’s known to do I’d take that over an unknown at 3’rd. Give him away for as good a deal as we got him for? Jump on it. Front end rotation guy? Jump on it.
