wow a good question: “with a losing streak like this, how come the team wasnt ready to come out”
Lav doesnt really answer

How to fix the Rangers in 9 simple steps:
1. James Dolan fires Drury as GM
2. James Dolan gives Mark Messier a leadership role in the organization (GM, Associate GM, or President of Hockey Ops)
3. New GM fires Laviolette and poaches Jon Cooper or Mike Sullivan from their respective teams, or goes with the left field controversial choice and hires Coach Q
4. GM forces Zibanejad to waive his NMC and ships him off
5. GM ships off Lindgren, Trouba, and Miller
6. GM ships Igor to Colorado for Georgiev and Rantanen — Georgiev is flipped to another team for picks, and Garand and Quick are the Rangers goalie tandem
7. New Coach scratches Trocheck, Panarin, and Fox for a couple of games in order to wake them up
8. New Coach gives Cuylle, Kakko, Lafreniere, Berard, Chytil, Mancini and Jones and Schneider top minutes
9. Couple years of development and the Rangers are your 2027 Stanley Cup Champions
Besides the obvious that Mika, trouba, and trouba are terrible, I was always suspicious of laviolette. He is a dinosaur who is out of ideas.
zib needs to start taking testosterone
never seen an nhl player so low t
Here’s a scary thought…. This team hasn’t hit rock bottom yet. It can, and likely will, get worse. There are still guys out there putting in work and showing some effort but eventually even they will give up because that’s just what happens. Why put in the effort and risk injury when the supposed leaders of the team aren’t?
I’m blocking @nyrangers on Instagram
Panarin was sneakily AWFUL today. Brian Boyle called him out for this the other day but his effort has been nonexistent, he doesn’t get back on defense, and he is completely taken out of the game whenever the opposition plays even the slightest physically.
following players i feel bad for:
S Tier: 20, 31
A Tier: 65, 50, 13, 84, 24, 32
B Tier: 16, 26, 4, 6, 72, 90
C Tier: 22, 39, 73(but gtfo Rempe)
D and E tier: 91, 10
F Tier: 8, 55, 93
When do we start the tank for Hagens discussion. We’re already on a 5 game losing streak and quickly falling in the standings. Why not just commit
Pretty obvious Kreider is the lifeblood of the team too. I still don’t know why Trouba has the C, but Kreider is really the captain of the team.
Motivation seems like a really big issue now, and that is a really bad sign. Having a few bad games here and there is expected, but this has been a handful of games they’re just not even trying. Or, only trying for 1 period. At this point it looks like something has to give. There’s some negative anchors on this team. They need to go, or just stop playing.
If I were the Avs and have any interest in extending my Cup window, I’d make the Rangers a godfather offer for Igor (who knows if they’d consider it but Drury absolutely should)
Mika needs to shave his head, if that doesnt work sit him every night until he asks for a trade
Its right in front of us
Holy shit these players are dog shit losers
From Vince’s recent article:
“Two league sources told lohud.com, part of the USA TODAY Network, that at least some players resent the for-sale sign that Drury hung over his roster this early in the season and don’t appreciate how easily it got leaked.”
Are we allowed to say how shitty this team is on here yet?
Friends and fellow NYR fans… do not panic. This is the annual midseason slump. Just came a bit early this year. Reeeeeelax
Man they are poop. Still love the guys, but man they play like shit lol
The only thing that gives me hope is remembering how bad the Oilers were at the beginning of last season, but with the right decisions (hiring the guy WE should have hired instead of Laviolette) they were 1 win away from being Stanley Cup Champz.
Your move Drury.
I had a feeling they would regress, but this fall has been way faster than anticipated. Just the shit luck of a rangers fan continuing. Honestly besides cuyle and lafrieniere I think the entire team can be traded
>[NYR with some, uh, creative defending in their own end — been a while since I saw a 3 on 0 given up from an OZ possession at 5v5 — but they’re only down a goal.](https://x.com/StapeAthletic/status/1862582179139637339)
Was looking at hockey ref, so this is the first 5 game skid since 2020-21 end-of-season right?

Ready to see the same exact lineup tomorrow except they’ll just let Quick get peppered on for another demoralizing loss?
Cuylle point that’s a W
This whole team is playing like hot ass with the exception of Cuylle, Laf. At least when the AHL callups and rookies make mistakes, they still look like they give a shit.
Our defensive structure is awful and literally every single defender on this team outside of the 3rd pairing has fallen off a cliff in a matter of months.
One possible move to make (outside of the slam dunk one of getting rid of Trouba and Lindgren): consider bringing back Jacques Martin to run our defensive scheme and move on from Phil Housley.
This past month has confirmed my fears about this core from 22-23, they can’t play with expectations or pressure. In 21-22, they fell apart as soon the media hyped them up. They walked into 22-23 with expectations of a playoff run and limped through the regular season and blow another 2-0 lead. Then come back in 23-24 with lowered expectations and what do you know? They have a great season and good playoff run. Until they once again get serious cup or bust talk against Carolina and lose 2, nearly 3 straight and get bailed out late to make it to Florida where we again blew a lead.
The team is mentally weak and looks for excuses for their bad play. Weak leadership, weak willed players. The old cure is to purge the team of these players everything else is a band aid on a broken leg.
It feels like there’s an exhaust leak on the Rangers bus, they all exhibit symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning; apathy, exhaustion, disorientation, lack of coordination. If so, Mika and Panarin must sit in the back of the bus. Zib is well-documented but I can’t be the only person who notices AP falling down a lot whether touched or not. And in no hurry to get back up when he falls. Passes the puck like his vision is blurry. I love the guy and I’ll stick with him, but somethings not right lately.
Happy to see Lindgren start to throw checks again and Berard / Cuylle make me happy.
I think I remember that Martin had already hooked up with another team. But if he is available, Drury needs to make that call .
This team has imploded. Dave talked on radio about them maybe bottoming out in today’s game. He is right in that you can’t climb out of your hole until the soil around you settles, but unfortunately I don’t think they are close to the bottom. Maybe a win against the Habs, but that is a toss up. The game against the Debbies may be beyond ugly. I can see a call being made next week to Alain V to see if he is interested in coming out of retirement. The other two available candidates are still way too toxic. It really looks bad that they did not make Knob the Assistant HC with a big boost in salary and the intention of him assuming HC by 2026.
Everyone always defaults to “they just don’t want it enough” but when you actually watch the games, it’s mainly a skill issue. Defensemen are slow and don’t know how to pass the puck in their own zone, forwards don’t know how to skate with the puck through the neutral zone, and the head coach doesn’t know how he should distribute icetime.
If you compare how Chytil or even Berard carries the puck through the neutral zone to almost anyone else, the differences are clear as day. The *one* thing that every hockey player has in common is that they are expected to skate *well* and we don’t have enough good skaters (and our best skater can’t stay healthy). And for some reason our worst puck moving and skating defensemen continue to play 20 minutes while Jones plays the least of any dman despite the team only having to kill 2 penalty minutes.
I really think all Drury can do at this point is move Trouba and Lindgren for 2 other defensemen who hopefully aren’t shit.
I think we’re mostly locked into these forwards for better or worse. Zibanejad is unmovable, Kreider I don’t think we’re moving, and Kakko we just straight up *shouldn’t* move.
I also don’t pin this on Laviolette beyond the typical “anything that happens is the HC’s responsibility.” The players have been here for longer than Lavi has and have shown the same flaws through MULTIPLE coaches. Lavi is no Scotty Bowman, but he’s not the reason for this shit.
I think if we’re willing to spend 12 on Igor, the rangers should pursue Mikko Rantanen instead
Some of the dumbest takes I’ve ever seen in this sub today. Absolute unreal.
Something’s gotta change. But maybe the move is to ride out this year and see what happens knowing it’s not gonna be a cup. And start a soft rebuild.
Is Adam Fox a leader on this team or not ? Cause his play and demeanor make me think otherwise .
Who’s excited for the “Chad Ruhwedel reassigned to Hartford, Rempe called up” notification tomorrow!!!!!!!! /s
I’ve vented so much on 8, and 93 respectfully, but when Joe and Sam start calling you out, then you know your in trouble. When you’ve played LIKE SHIT, EVEN IN WINS LIKE AGAINST THE DUCKS AND SHARKS, then you know it’s not it. WHEN YOUR NOT STARTING ON TIME, AND GIVING UP A GOAL SECONDS, MINUTES INTO A GAME, NO BACKCHECKING EFFORT FROM CERTAIN PLAYERS, and this shit has been going on all season. When your goalie keeps you in the game then it’s a problem. When a pesty player like Vinny drags you offensively into the fight, and no other player that is a “vet” gets going, then you know it’s a problem. This team, doesn’t have any Jam players outside of a few players. Teams got a some weak players that use the “I don’t know” or Find a Way to stop this” as an excuse.
When one player is doing all of the heavy work, and your young players are doing work, then it’s a problem. It takes a team to play, not individuals, And a team needs individuals that don’t pull the “feel bad for me” act when your going through shit. I’ve never been on the “blow up the team” train unless it has to be done. But, if they continue to play like this, against the Habs, who’s gm is Jeff Gorton, the man who put Drury in this situation, and lose the way they did today in tomorrow’s game, then changes have to happen simple as that.
Onto the Habs. I have nothing else to say. Focus on the Habs….. somehow
Silver lining here is that our weaknesses are being utterly exposed. Last year they were masked by insane special teams, goaltending and the panarin line who was on another level. We masked the defensive weaknesses and the faltering Mika/1st line play all the way until the Canes series when they started to become apparent.
By Monday I expect to see some really hard decisions/roster moves made by Lav and Drury or I will officially be on the firelav firedrury train.
The other silver lining here is our young guns absolutely look like real gamers and our depth blows away last years team. If we can figure out this defensive issue and get rid of Lindy or Trouba, find the balls to scratch Mika so long as he plays like ass, get panarin line clicking and we can get Chytil and Kreider back full strength, I still think we can make a run.
A lot of ifs, but not out of the question and a lot relies on the coach and management of this team.
Bench Mika.
Something I have noticed is whenever we have a 3 on 2 rush we are all over committing and the play turns around as an odd man rush against us. Which generally costs us. This is not good team defence.
