  3. I hate to say it, but it does seem like it’s time. Dude has had a very serious shot at showing his stuff, and just going off of the eye test, he doesn’t look like he fits.

  4. He deserved the chance to try but I agree this experiment is over. He looks lost out there and he was begging for the chance didn’t rise to the occasion

  5. He looked possessed pre season. Time for a new uniform new vibe. I’m sure he can land a job just not in Toronto

  6. Let’s think about this after some forwards return from IR. He’s still young and has a high upside.

    There’s no hurry to move on at this point. The team is playing well

  7. Given we have injuries I see no reason to trade him right now. I’m confident he won’t be on the roster come playoff time. I’m sure we will see some deadline acquisitions this year and he will likely be moved out then.

  10. With all the injuries, it’s surprising he hasn’t made his mark. It looks like a confidence problem at this point and he may not get that back without a fresh start somewhere. Do both parties a favour and move on already. It was worth a shot. Go get an asset and call it a day.

    The team most likely needs to bring in a body for him tho. Not sure what his value is out there but package him with a pick and see if you can get a decent body back.

  11. He has an almost elite wrist shot but not the hockey IQ to get into places where he can take advantage of it. Everything else in his game is below average. chief has him bought into the systems though and there has been a noticeable improvement in other areas of his game. However he is still below where he needs to be at those aspects of the game. For the first time in his hockey career he is thinking about defensive positioning and a 200 foot game. But thinking about where he needs to be to work the system has him away from his natural 100% all has no breaks just want to score mentality. He’s thinking about his shot which is something I don’t think he’s ever done before.

  12. He hasn’t been able to break through, and now there are guys lower on the organizational depth chart who are starting to surpass him.

    When this team is healthy, he’s toast. Put him in a package deal for a 3C and be done with it.

  15. I’ve been a Robertson advocate for a long time. It’s clear he’s not going to work out long term though.

    He may be able to go somewhere else and put up some respectable numbers but we need him at that point right now.

    We’re going to get healthy and need the cap/roster spots. Either lose him via waivers or get some sort of trade together. He’s not all that valuable as an asset right now.

  16. Well he is the whipping boy of the day right?

    He’s young. He’s cheap. He isn’t scored on much (4 goals against this season). We need forwards. He’s had chances. He draws penalties. Berube likes him.

    He isn’t getting traded until near the TDL, if at all.

    The dumbest thing would be to trade him for another player who maybe had his production last year.

    Put differently, would you trade him for a player that scores at a 15 goal per season pace? That’s still his record over the past two seasons.

  20. I don’t think value is 1 for 1 but maybe adding a pick or prospect we should try to snag kakko from rangers big body plays the Berube style well, a little disappointing based on where he was drafted but he’s still a middle 6 forward in the nhl.

    Pacioretty and Kampf are still a bit away I think

  35. Echo Chamber from Kyper @ Bourne – that said- Robertson is a mid NHL player and will have to adapt his game if he is to be successful. Boots way too slow.

  37. It looks like he’s gripping his stick way too hard out there right now, which as I see it gives you three options:

    1) Trade him for something inconsequential. You’re maybe getting a 4th for him, or at best another team’s reclamation project

    2) Let him fight through it, hope he gets a dirty goal that opens things up for him

    3) Wait for guys to get healthy, scratch him to let him reset, then hope he finds it

  38. They should just trade him to Anaheim or San Jose – both of those teams are probably willing to take a chance on a low cost player that still could potentially be a decent goal scorer in the right situation.

  39. There was zero demand for him in the summer. There would be even less now. They moved Lilly for a 3rd and 6th, which shows to me that they aren’t holding out for pie in the sky wishful thinking kind of returns on guys they decide to move on from.

    Robertson has no value on the trade market. He will fetch a 7th or a no chance type prospect. At some point he is what he has shown himself to be. Waive him when they get healthy and if he’s claimed so be it. If not hope that he finds his form in the minors.

  40. I was high on Robertson heading into the season. Still think he can be a player one day – but it ain’t going to be here. Man is playing like he just wants to get waived so he can gtfo of here.

  43. I like him but agree. But you **KNOW** he’s going to find massive success the second he goes somewhere else. He’s going to go to like Anaheim and score 40.

  45. He begged for a trade because he thought he was worth something. In 20+ games he’s proven he isn’t anywhere near a top 6 player. I’d love to see him do well somewhere but he is going to be a perpetual waiver player his entire career. People who talk about him as if he has more dimensions than being a straight line from NHL to AHL are absolutely wrong.

  48. The problem is there are too many injured forwards right now, in a healthy team situation he would be long gone
