Before we go crazy…we originally brought in Wedgewood for a backstop while Askarov developed, as well as a new goalie development coach. That plan obviously didn’t pan out, but it looks like we went shopping for a good prospect who can utilize the same framework we would’ve used for Askarov. Oh, also, he’s Finnish.
Wasn’t expecting to lose Wedgewood
Fucking why.
As the shirt I have says, More Fins, More Wins.
Is this the start of the sell off?
The Avs are known for producing good goalies right? Right?
finnish 🗣️ goalie 🗣️ tandem 🗣️ is 🗣️ back 🗣️
Well at least we are back to the Finnish tandem, that seems to go well
Annunen was highly regarded at one point, maybe Korn’s system can get him back on track.
We’ve got Chrona in the AHL too. I havent looked at him in detail, but I feel like he and Annunen will now compete for the backup spot.
Chrona,Annunen, Juice, nice selection of goalies, Wedgewood was absolute garbage for us, maybe this is the trade that helps us out a bit?
Important for the article to note, Annunen is from Pekka Rinne’s home town.
I have no idea what’s going on anymore lol. I’m not going to be shocked when I see Schenn get a 7 year contract extension and we give Evangelista to the Sharks for a firm handshake.
Sat morning Wedgwood moves was not on my bingo card this morning.
“Oh hell yeah”
– Scott Wedgewood, probably
Not complaining (other than helping a division rival), but this whole situation makes me think we should have never let Asky bounce in the first place.
Wedgewood was a mistake from the get-go. Never liked the signing in the first place. He was trash for the Stars last season. Compound that with the Askarov fall out and it’s a black eye for Trotz. Annunen has shown he isn’t much better when he was given the opportunity to have a run of starts with the Avs this season.
We got younger, opened up more cap space, and got a pick out of it. As long as we keep shipping out older players on shorter contracts I’m all for it since we are unintentionally tanking this season.
Hey at least we can still call up askarov.

Wedgewood, we hardly knew ye
Good trade. The same guy who did this and got Zucker and Beauvillier for nothing gave Tomasino away. Make it make sense
Guys. Trotz is selling. It’s happening. This isn’t some minor move. He brought in Wedgewood because we needed the best possible back-up to help us get to the playoffs.
He said we’d see if we have it by Thanksgiving. We don’t. Wedgewood, our back-up goalie, is gone. So curious what else is coming out. Wonder if he’s going to move guys like Nyquist next or wait until closer to the deadline.
Also, Fuck You Trotz. Sold a generational prospect to win now. Threw in the towel after 2 months after giving out 4, 5, 7, and 8 year deals. Laughable. Thankfully he has the presence of mind to not try and buy his way out of this mess but lord how predictable was all of this?
Now we have big juice and little juice.
I’m not saying anything, but Annunen and Rinne were born in the same place. Coincidence?
The reason for this trade is simple.
Nashville fans won’t have to think about which goalie is in nets before they yell, “Juuuuuuice!”
I assume Sarros is going to start again tonight. It’s exceedingly rare to start a goalie in back to back games in today’s NHL. Hope the guys actually give him support tonight.
Annunen got lit up by the Ads. Wonder if he goes to MKE and they call up one of Murray/Chrona, who’ve both been playing great for us, or he is the NSH backup.
