[Passan] Left-handed reliever Aroldis Chapman and the Boston Red Sox are in agreement on a one-year, $10.75 million contract, pending physical, sources tell ESPN. Boston sought left-handed help for its bullpen and lands the 36-year-old Chapman. @ChrisCotillo said deal was progressing.

  1. red sox fans: john henry needs to spend

that monkey paw be curling like a mother fucker right now

  2. Outside of this guy being a huge piece of shit, I *really hope he isn’t expected to be the closer out of Spring*.

Chapman is *fine* as a 7th inning guy and can technically close still if needed, but my Lord, woof, what a way to start the off-season.

Good luck to Breslow if he doesn’t deliver on the high expectations after this.

  3. “Boy, I sure hope the Sox make some FA decisions that impact the way I see the team this year. They really need to shake things up.” *monkey’s paw curls*

Honestly may stop watching games in 2025. I’ve been hating this fucking creep for a decade.

  4. Fuck Breslow. This is a piece of shit move for a piece of shit person. How can you say you want this fucking guy on your team. Seriously.

Disappointed and disgusted with our front office.

  5. A huge part of my job is helping domestic violence victims. Fuck this guy. Seriously. I will not be watching a game this year.

  6. Great.

While we’re signing scum of the earth guys, why not add OJ and Tyreek Hill to the Red Sox next year?

  7. Man fuck Chapman. What a stupid move to try to appeal to fans. He’s an asshole.

  8. This dude sucks as a person and as a player, why the fuck are we giving him almost 11mil?

  9. I mean the off the field stuff is tough to stomach but I see a bunch of people trashing the on the field fit and I don’t get that.

    Player A: 2.92 xERA, 2.92 FIP, 3.38 xFIP

    Player B: 2.96 xERA, 3.04 FIP, 3.13 xFIP

Player A is about to get 4/60 (or more), Player B just got 1/11. Chapman is dollar store Scott, and shopping at the dollar store for other pieces is how you afford Fried/Soto.

  10. The Sox really saw the Duran homophobia controversy and said “who can we find that is worse”

  11. This would’ve been unimaginable to me four years ago. Chapman is fully in his hired gun phase of his career, probably because he’s no longer good enough to be the centerpiece of a bullpen. And yikes, his personal history. Not as bad as Osuna to the Astros, but still…

  12. I assume this is the signing that Jimmy Stewart was referencing yesterday when he said red Sox fans weren’t gonna be happy
