2. I try not to pay any attention to any announcement of where anyone thinks Soto is going until it is announced. This is a Scott Boras Client and he will always put out things to all interested markets that are still in play especially if it helps to drive up the price of his player. You mentioned why do they have all these rounds if they are not eliminating anyone, it is because Boras wants the other clubs all to believe that anyone out there is a threat to give his client the highest and longest contract out there. I would just ignore everything right now until we get the same comments from multiple media of different markets that he has made a decision. We won't know anything most likely until we see the official report that he has signed. I was very surprised that you did not comment on Chapman signing the 1 year $10 Million or so contract today, and right after you had your bullpen prediction video too. Once again the Sox sign a player that no one heard any news about until the signing happened. I think that takes care of the left side of the pen in terms of FA signing now with Wilson and him now on board.

3. I’d really like it if they’d make the free agent signing period a shorter timeline. Possibly, the World Series ends, teams and management take a break. December starts the free agent signing window, and it ends January 1st.

6. I believe the Red Sox are in it. In the past–most notably ALL of the bidding last year–by this point, the Sox were firmly OUT and every report said so. You can't "fake" that you're offering $600M–I know conspiracy naysayer ninnies THINK that, but it's just not true. What they need, badly, is a big right handed power hitter to balance their lineup and provide some RBI power from the right side. I don't ever remember the Sox having such a weak lineup from the right handed batters box. 25. Very interesting situation Corbin. I honestly don't feel he is coming to Fenway Park. I also highly doubt he signs with Toronto. He wants to win a world series and thats probably not going to happen in Toronto. I have a hard time believing that the Dodgers don't slide in here and grab him. They just won a world series and Soto knows that. They would be pretty much unbeatable with him in the fold. Mets also have extremely deep pockets so I see the Dodgers & Mets as the favorites to sign him.

33. There’s a lot of uncertainty at this point. It feels like the Sox could be being used as leverage, but I don’t think that’s the case. It seems like they do have a legit shot here.

    Martino is right, but I do have a gut feeling Soto comes to Boston. Mets offer the most money, Blue Jays make a good offer but aren’t a fit due to roster uncertainty and a bad farm, Yankees proved last year they couldn’t win a ring with Soto when the path was very easy in the AL and against a very weak Dodgers team due to injury.

    I really see it coming down to Boston and NYM.

41. I think, going by Soto's performance in the playoffs, that he wants to win first and foremost. Going by that, despite the last three years, the Red Sox are the team to join out of all the suitors (I'm not thinking about the Dodgers). If Boston can prove their dedication to attaining MULTIPLE championships, then they will win him over. I favor Boston in all of this. That said, I still look forward to the building of a great team to bring the noise and the rings to Fenway. I love our outfield as it is. If Story stays healthy and they sign good pitching I am going to be pumped with or without Soto. (Obviously beyond pumped if they land Soto 🙂 ).

My thinking on the Soto situation, that perhaps all the talk of the Red Sox being a favorite or his destination, that maybe its a ploy to get the team that Soto would like to play for, and that is the Yankees. It seems as if they are teasing to get Yanks to add years, add money. Soto know where he wants to go, at least for a few years, and Boris job, is to get the best deal, there are only a hand full of teams that fit the criteria. I could be wrong, Ortiz, he knows if Soto is really interested in calling Boston his home. Regardless if they get Soto, they need to pivot to starters.
