1. Had a front row seat for his 2024 here in Pittsburgh. He could not throw strikes for the first two months. It was maddening. We all started to think it was yet another bad Cherington FA signing. Then Chapman got locked in and mowed just about everyone down with 100+mph fastballs the rest of the way. One thing I noticed is that he is still a fierce competitor, even in podunk Pittsburgh. He takes pride in dominating. Hopefully he can avoid any long stretches where he can't find the K zone.

2. You don’t want to commit to a top reliever for a long contract, when the team is shopping for a long term starter; All other relievers demand at least two year contracts

3. Corbin your take is far from ridiculous. I got a chill up my spine when I read it. This is a bad guy. Yes he throws hard and gets a lot of hitters out but the attitude kills me. Why didn’t they go all in on Tanner Scott? Of all the needs they have this isn’t how I hoped they would go about it. Oh don’t get me started on the walks. 😮

6. It is a weird signing. Also, I don't think it's ridiculous to bring up his history. Character is very important. Sure, we only see a tiny sliver of the lives of the players but his history is truly out of hand. I think it is important for you to say your peace on it. I' not down with cancel culture. I will root for him to make the best of his chance with Boston but clearly it will not feel at all the same as rooting for Raffy or Story or Houck. Great report per usual.

10. I remember when that 2016 incident happened when I was living in Miami. I think it occurred in Plantation or Davie .The Latin community can be very passionate and misogynistic but I still think everybody deserves a second chance and he's learned from his immaturity. I haven't heard anything negative about him since he's been in Kansas City and Pittsburgh other than he walks a ton .but the chance to have this flamethrower paired with Liam Hendricks? Why not? Its only a one year deal

12. I think they can tweak his mechanics to enable him to harness control. I love his arm even at 37.

14. I’ve gotta be honest: I don’t look to any athlete for my moral compass. I’m not excusing any of the heinous crap that he’s pulled. But in my mind, a lot of athletes get away with crimes – we probably don’t know about the vast majority of them.

    Plus, crimes are crimes. But are we just going to forgive and forget when Duran dropped a recognized slur on national TV? I say yes. Not comparing a word to beating a woman. But just speaking to my moral compass staying far away from almost any athlete.

    All of this is to say, if they got the lefty setup man they needed, I’ll shut up as long as he keeps his nose clean in Boston.

    Not concerned about age or numbers. If he can replicate what he did last year – some of which was in a closer role which he won’t be doing with the Sox – this should be a solid move. Just gotta add another arm or two. I say one of those arms is Whitlock to the pen, as well.

15. This signing just feels like the ownership trying to shut us up with a big name, but as usual, ownership hopes we don't notice that Chapman's right at the end of his career. I notice! Sure he had a good year last year, but he's going to be 37. Especially being a high velocity guy, his dominant days are numbered.

17. His DV is 8 yrs ago, he throws very hard, i think Cora is good with it, this is a good team for him, and we need a flamethrower, so i'm fine with it, and the money. I get why you feel as you do, but he is not the face of the BP. The catcher Wong is more of a problem. He's only 1 yr, low money. I am fine with it.

    However, even though its a lot of frickin dough for a 37 year old, ex hated Yankee, this is not a bad move…
    In fact, I like it! Let Jansen go as he already basically is, and we still can tweak the bullpen a bit. He is a good set up guy! Winning and success makes me comfortable to cheer for!

Corbin I’m with you also I don’t like the move and it’s solely beaches chapman isn’t a good person, I love and value the women in my life and the idea of a guy who beats women on my team I don’t like it, but as a pure baseball perspective it’s a “Good” move, but the thing is I’ll never be able to look at it through just a baseball perspective cuz aren’t robots going out there and what he does off the field should affect how people view him on the field
