Happy Thanksgiving Corbin I had not heard of this player until you spoke of him today and from what you are saying about him I agree with you this is a good idea for the Red Sox he would be a player that's under team control he would benefit the team under their tutelage and training to become a top-tier picture giving up weiler abreu that's a little tough pill to swallow but I agree with you if you're going to get quality you're going to have to give up some quality and if they need production he's a good guy that's going to offer them production and we have a log jam of talented outfielders and infielders the Red Sox are loaded with these type of players so yes I do agree with you and I think it is a very good idea and I think it would work for the Red Sox down the road and he is under team control as you say until 2030 so thumbs up to your idea

  3. This trade possibility is fine. I am all in on obtaining young pitchers! Sox' do have a solid group of draft picks in their minor league system. So, the trade could pick up some steam. Two current players on the Sox' roster I would definately not trade Casas/Abreu. I have watched Casas' swing.. he has a very fast & efficient swing.. and he still generates power! Casas fits firstbase & Abreu fits in rightfield. Need to shop somebody else for any pitchers in the Pittsburgh Pirates system.

  9. I always liked Whitlock as a starter. I think Whitlock gets his fastball north of 96 mph. I think Whitlock should go back to the bullpen and possibly be slotted into the late innings/closer.
    Sox' do not have a closer/late innings pitcher going into the season. This is priority number one!

  10. Lmao, dude. I get it, you're doing a Red Sox channel and you don't know other teams… but there is a less than zero chance that Pittsburgh is trading Jared Jones to anyone for anything.

    I think Jones would be a decent add but I think the Fried, Buehler, etc. along with Crochet and Castillo would all be better ways to go at least short term but I wouldn't be mad at getting Jones he was Skenes before Skenes and then between Skenes coming up and Jones getting injured I think a lot of people forgot about him.
    I think the biggest thing at the moment is we would need him plus a top guy and he's the #2 with the Pirates so I don't think they would trade him unless they were blown away and that's not the type of deal I'd like to see. I think Brad Keller is 100% on the market and they all but said they were looking to deal him already so he'd be a more likely trade piece but we have a ton of #3-#5 pitchers so I don't know that moves the needle much unless he's the #3 pitcher we pick up behind say Fried and one of (Crochet, Buelher, Castillo, etc.) then I could see Keller. That said I really don't think the Pirates let Jones go for any package I would be willing to trade for him.

  16. Personally I would rather overpay for Garrett Chrochet, Corbin Burnes, or Max Fried than overpay for Jared Jones, or Joe Shablotnik
    for that matter.

  19. The Pirates turned down a one for one offer of Jackson Holliday for Jared Jones. If the Pirates weren't interested in the #1 prospect in baseball, the deal won't get done unless it is Wilyer Abreu or Tristan Casas plus one of the "Big 4" minor leaguers

  20. Skenes = top 3 prospects to start… and 1 starting pitcher…!??? If a trade, get the best out there! Pirates most likely hang up the phone on you about Skenes…but…make the call! Pirates other young pitchers with strikeout stuff, Make the Trade…! Not everybody prospect in AA, AAA can play in Boston!!! Happy Turkey Day Mr. RedSox!!! Keep up the Great Stuff!

  22. Happy Turkey Day! I don’t think we need another righty though Jones is a beast. There are pluses and an Abreu/Mayer trade might work but JJ is still developing his stuff. Will he meet his potential? It’s a roll of the dice for a proven rookie like Abreu.

  29. 🦃 I’m not sold on Jared Jones. I’m not that familiar with him. Good point on Pittsburgh being a good trading partner. I see Keller as possibly another middle of the rotation piece. Can never have too many of those. Maybe Keller is a good plan C. Plan A being A being land a 1 and a 1A/2 starter. Adding another middle of the rotation piece would be the next best thing.

  30. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!! Earlier this week I commented on a potential trade with either the M’s or Pirates for a starter. I watched Jones pitch multiple times in 2024 for the Pirates and he can be pretty impressive. Almost 10 K’s per 9 innings, low WHIP……..he’s young so we would need to be patient but there’s potential. Pirates need outfielders so maybe there’s a deal there for Abreu and a prospect. A trade for Jones doesn’t answer the Red Sox starting pitching needs. Still need the top of rotation pitcher like Fried. Fried, Houck, Jones, Bello and Giolito is pretty good!! Feels like a 90 win playoff team rotation.

  33. Happy Thanksgiving Corbin! Hope you are having an awesome one!!! Yes, Pittsburgh sounds like a good trade partner. I like your trade proposal . In light of the fact we are having a very difficult time signing these top tier free agent pitchers your suggestion here might be the way to go. Its a different approach but I believe its a smart one and I salute you for this idea. These under the radar options can actually end up being quite clever. Adding decent young pitching to the organization is the goal I hope to achieve. They were reasonable with the Preister trade maybe they will be with Jones as well. Another side note Corbin would be that perhaps there are other similar situations to this Pirates/Jones possibility with other teams as well that we could zone in on. Thinking out of the box. 🙂 Joe

  34. I'm a HUGE Pirates fan. This proposal makes zero sense for the Pirates. Just last week one of the Pirates fans proposed this trade to the Red Sox. Jared Jones for Casas and Duran or Roman Anthony instead of Duran. Would you consider that deal because I don't think the Pirates would even take those players for Jones… I watched every game and Jones's ERA was so high because in a couple of games late, Shelton pulled him out with the bases loaded and all three runs scored on him. Shelton also left him in too long after he was out of gas…. Mitch Keller is signed to a longterm contract that is team friendly. He might be a better trade with the Red Sox for better players than you suggest for Jones.

  37. I think Abreu would be a target for the pirates, but I’m not sure if they want to give up Jared Jones for him. I think someone more like Braxton Ashcroft they would be willing to part with the best way for the trade to work I think would be a three team trade between the Pirates, Red Sox and White Sox where the Red Sox get Garrett crochet The Pirates get Abreu the White Sox get Braxton Ashcroft,with some other prospects thrown obviously, but the three guys I just mentioned would be the centerpiece each team in the trade

  38. I like this because a young pitcher like this would be controllable through (nearly) all the team's window of real contention. I peg that at 2026-2030, when the top prospects will have some major league experience but still be under control. And someone like Jones would be cheap, leaving cash for some big acquisitions to complement the young guys. The risk of course is that he may never be as great as projected, a common problem.

  43. This is exactly the type of trade that the Red Sox aggressively need to pursue … However, I think the Red Sox would need to over pay by including an additional player in this proposed deal making it a 4 for 1 swap in order for the Pirates to agree to it …
