God I hope not, bad contract, dirty player
We have great hospitals for his wife.
He’s only a dirty player because he’s stressed about living in nyc.
Move him to the beautiful Midwest, get some fresh air and he’ll be rock solid addition to the team
1st round pick for Jiricek. 1st round pick for Provorov later this season. Possibly high draft pick from NYR to take this contract. Don is up to something.
Lmao they are going to give us a pick to take their captain, aren’t they?!
If we could get him+ for taking his full contract then flip him at the deadline to a contender while retaining 50% or something… wouldn’t be bad.
On one hand, this team needs a more physical player and desperately need more right handed D
On the other I don’t like the dirtyness of Trouba. At all.
Best case scenario, Trouba has a come to Jesus moment while in Columbus, does extremely well here like Fabbro and Olivier, and signs a friendlier extension
What’s the story with Trouba this season? I haven’t really heard anything either way, why is he on the outs in NY?
Unless they’re giving us picks to dump his contract, no thanks. This guy stinks.
I don’t mind it, especially since we are likely moving Provorov.
Per Kaplan on X we are one of the four or five teams in on this.
Trouba is washed, a dirty player and besides that I heard on the Puck Soup podcast that he’s a cancer in the Rangers locker room. Hard pass.
If they the Rangers could get Trouba to waive to us and they’re also going to give us decent assets to take on the contract, I’d be interested. He seems like a GMDW defenseman (physical, solid skater)
If it comes down to him being waived I would hope we wouldn’t claim him because we’re basically letting NYR off the hook
Trouba and a first and then buy him out in the offseason. I wouldn’t hate it. After we trade Provy, we’d have four firsts.
Please don’t.
Wow, just read they gave him till 2PM to decide before the put him on waivers.
Not sure where this idea came from that they would give up assets to get rid of him is coming from.
They can put him on waivers for free and get him off of their cap by either having him claimed or putting him in the AHL.
If he doesnt report then they get rid of his contract and dont have to pay him.
The only reason a trade would happen is if someone low on the waiver wire wants him and would pay to do so. Knowing they couldnt get him for free off of the waiver wire.
This really doesnt make sense for us. The Rangers are a rich enough team to pay him 8mil to play in the AHL so they wont give up picks to get rid of him. And we dont need 8 mil next year on an old veteran that can only play 3rd pairing level now.
It would have to be a really juicy package, that’s a big matzo ball to add to our cap table, whether we can afford it or not. Especially if we’re bailing out a divisional foe .
Already wasn’t a big fan of the guy but the Amazon series did absolutely nothing to help my view of him. Hopefully we don’t trade for him but I would trust Waddell given some of the moves he’s already done to the D
Also I can’t imagine being the captain of an original six team and being waived that’s crazy
