Its a good sign how much the players like him. But we know the main reason this convo gets brought up us because the one game he was interim HC we were a basket or two from the Franchise record for points. I dont think we have enough info to answer that question honestly
Borrego seems like the Dennis Allen of the Pelicans. He’s a great assistant, but we’ve seen what he does as a head coach, and I’m not impressed.
I’d be ok trying out Pierre as head coach. Maybe for some fan engagement, they can do a raffle each quarter for a lucky fan to draw up some X’s and O’s. Anything but Willie
If borrego was some great head coach in waiting, he would be a head coach, he’s been a head coach and has had opportunities to get another job as one. I doubt he’d be much better than Willie.
The best chance would have been to give him the job this season and see how he did. Hiring him to a large contract after Willie and him ending up being bad would be terrible. DG had the perfect opportunity to let go of Willie with this record(even if it’s not Willie fault completely)
I don’t know much of him tbh but genuinely I just want to see these dudes (who clearly have talent) under anyone other than Willie.
Would it fix anything? Idk but we have 4/5 years of Willie led teams and its nothing but the same problems over and over. Willie is not taking this team anywhere meaningful
