Well deserved.
Finally. Well deserved
Welcome, Dick.
huge day for people alive for the 1960s/70s who wanna argue about HOF cases
Too bad he didn’t live to see it.
About damn time
This just made my day.
Jesus. Finally. Took them fucking long enough.
It’s still a disgrace they couldn’t have done this when he was alive to see it but better late than never
He’s such a legendary part of White Sox lore despite playing just 3 seasons with them. Says a lot.
Let’s phucking go
Dick goes in!
the people who worked hard to make sure he wouldn’t see this while he was alive will not see heaven
Finally.
Longgggg overdue
Dick Allen in 1972: .308/.420/.603. Led the league in home runs (37), RBI’s (113), and walks (99). OPS+ was a Gehrig-esque 199, and his bWAR was an insane 8.6 as a first baseman (higher than any Frank Thomas season). This season was credited with keeping the White Sox in Chicago after rumors of relocation swirled around the team in the years prior.
Ironic fact: early in his career, he got in trouble for punching out a teammate that he claimed through a racial slur at him. That teammates’ name? Also Frank Thomas.
Strong case on the merits – well deserved!
Well now we need to find a new answer for “who is the biggest HoF snub” cuz it was pretty unanimously Allen
Overdue.
hell yeah, took too long but big congrats
Barring Roids and Joe Jackson, Dick Allen was the best retired player by OPS+ not in the hall. Long overdue and a real shame he did not get in while living.
Edit World Series era. A couple 1800s guys
Long over due! Allen should have been a no doubt about it years ago. Dave Parker was a very good player, but if he is in, then a lot of others should get in. Better than Baines, but.. Parker could get in on his throwing arm alone, but what do I know?
Congrats to Dick Allen, long overdue. But I’m here to complain.
Announcing a Hall of Fame election on a Sunday night in the middle of the offseason is *moronic*. This should be a tentpole moment for the sport; instead, it’s something that just kind of comes out of nowhere. Forget the Golden At-Bat and all the other ideas — MLB needs to work with its partners (the Hall, in this case) to fix the easy stuff first!
It’s sad that it took this long, it’s great for his legacy but I wish he was here to see it
Should have happened in 2015 at the latest but at least they corrected their mistake.
Whomever these Baseball Writers of America or whatever are, they are the dumbest motherfuckers on the planet.
Dude should have been in years ago. But no. Bunch of dumbasses had to wait ’til he died to feel he deserves recognition.
Fuck ’em. Happy for Dick Allen though.
About fucking time. Absolute disgrace it’s taken this long when the likes of Mays, Stargill, Aaron, and Killebrew, who all had similar numbers, have enjoyed being enshrined for a long time.
I’m sure his family is happy, but I heard an interview done with his son where he said that this is for his father, and he’s not here for it, so while he’d be honored it’s also a slap in the face.
A fine pick. I personally haven’t been won over by the advocates but admittedly am a small hall guy and recognize he should be in over like 30% of the current players.
About fucking time.
Forty years overdue.
About fucking time
Great player that should gone in a long time ago. I’m glad he’s in with the Cobra.
