  1. Wow I’m firmly on the side that we won the soto trade. Multiple pitchers with 2+ years of control for only one year of soto? Good for preller

  2. Holy shit, man. I’ve no idea how the contract is payed out but 51m per year is wild.

  3. Also this makes Tatis’s contract look better and better. We’re talking about an offensive beast that can hit for power and has speed and is a platinum glover and only basically 1/2 of Soto? count me in

  4. 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻NOT OUR DIVISION🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

NL playoff bracket just got tougher, but it’s a relief that he didn’t wind up with LA or even SF.

  5. The year is 2039. A forty-one-year-old Soto saunters to the plate. He takes strike one dead down the dick at 105 and nods at the pitcher with a knowing frown. Strike two catches the inside corner and Soto swivels his hips in a pale shadow of his famous shuffle. Soto calls time and restraps the velcro on 6 different elbow and wrist guards. The ump calls a pitch clock violation and Juan meanders back to the bench cussing and shaking his head.

  6. Good for him – he turned down $450M for 10 years and got more. Also glad the Pads didnt try to sign him. He’s great and a future HOF probably, but he could wind up anywhere between Votto and Ted Williams. That’s a huge risk. And his subs (E: sus) Defense I wouldn’t pay that for 10 years of DH and 5 years of passable Left Field (at best).

  7. This post couldve said “soto signs with not the dodgers for some money or something” and i would be ok with that

  8. What an insane contract. We have Tatis AND Manny for that much, both of whom can actually play defense

  9. Happy to see the Yankees only got a 1 year rental out of him. As frustrated as I was giving him up last year, there’s no way we’d have been anywhere near this offer.

  10. Hope this signing jacks up Teoscar Hernández’s price so the dodgers don’t get him

  11. Opt out after five years is insane considering he’s only 26 years old. He could conceivably get paid even more when he is 31 which is near when most big name players get huge free agent deals.

EDIT: Looks like the Mets can void the opt out if they raise the AAV for the rest of the contract after the opt out year which is a pretty sweet deal for the Mets assuming Soto keeps performing

  12. I like Soto, but holy shit that is way too much money for a guy who is serviceable at best in the OF.

  13. I’m fine with this. It ain’t the Dodgers and he won’t end up being worth that much money

  14. I don’t like him
He would’ve played in the Mexican league with a good offer.mets aren’t winning shit
