  1. Can’t even be mad tbh. Hate that it was the Mets but at least it wasn’t Boston. That would’ve really killed me.

  2. Don’t worry guys, everyone here is assuring me the Yankees get to spend all that money right now and sign every top free agent.

  3. OK, now Brian please don’t freak out and sign another Ellsbury because you got outbid.

  4. This is a really dark spot for this franchise. We may be able to move on, but losing one of the best FA’s in the history of the sport, to any team – is unacceptable.

  5. I know it’s unreasonable, but I kind of take offense at Soto for this. Feels a little gross won’t lie. But much less gross than Boston.

  6. Reminder to never give players loyalty to players who never show it back.

Judge came off of one of the best seasons of modern history and signed to us not only after his hometown team matched the offer but after the padres offered him more.

This season was a blast and I’ll always be grateful for Sotos season and postseason but from now on it’s fuck Juan Soto.

EDIT: looks like he chose the Mets for 5 million dollars so that’s cool

  7. The contract is over 800 million with escalators. Holy shit lmao. I’m sad it’s the damn Mets but aint no way anyone else is going that high

  8. The Judge/Cole window just slammed shut. The Yankees will never be able to replace what Soto was for them. Missed Harper, missed Soto. Not the Yankees anymore.

  9. At least he’s not in the AL, the Dodgers and Mets can fuck each other for the next decade.

  10. This is such a blessing. We wanted him back on the team, but this is stupid money. Hal went higher than I expected and his heart is set on winning but there’s no responsible man in the world who should put that kind of money on one player. Plus, it’s the Mets. He just Robby Canoed to Seattle.

  11. Alright, while it would’ve been nice to have him I think this works out for the Yankees for the following reasons.

    1) We have other holes we need to fill. Pitching, first, and second jump to mind. Go out and get good players here. Preferably a fielder at second.

    2) This contract would’ve hampered the Yankees, and while Cohen’s is made of money this is going to affect the Mets too.

    3) This team is not winning a world series until we get better at the fundamentals. While having Soto is great, he’s not going to fix this issue single handedly.

    4) Fix the fundamentals, get a good obp bat and another solid pitcher and thus team can win a championship.

  12. Soto signing for only 5 mill more is definitely ridiculous, but as harsh as this sounds, I think I’d rather have guys like Lindor and Alonso in a playoff lineup, instead of Judge choking every year and hoping we get bailed out by Stanton
