  1. They aren't making any moves? Last year they had no reason making the playoffs. Then they get 3 big FA and completely fumble. A great comparable is WSH. But PLD,Mangi, and Roy AND CHYCHRUN are not 1 dimensional players. Brady Sjei clearly cannot carry a line which makes him a #4. A #4 is not worth 7mil. Dimitri Orolv is a #3 which means he can carry a line. We see alot of Karlson Methot Duos. VGK and COL dosent count. Lindgren Fox (only worked for 3-4 years. Yeah well the way Ryan plays he will have a short career), Sanderson/Chabot and (x), Faber Middleton, VAN doaent County either, Hamilton Sigez/Dillion…. Point is your #1 Dman needs offensive upside hence why Detroit is not getting it done. Not a knock on Seider because I love him but he is no nick Lindstrom, if anything he is a More of a two way Suter with hits like Weber. Weber consistently produced offense even more then Chara eventgough being considered Dfd…. anyways… this just leads me to ott and buf not having that goalie so ott should make the playoffs and needs to make a push.
My recommendation is to make a big move to get Trouba. Oh wait, trouba won't go their. So then the leads to Colton prayako. Oh wait stl will prob make the playoffs. Okay so then. They get Pullock or Romanaov. Could of gotten Jirchek. Should of tried Fabbro. Oh did I mention goalies or does mangemnt in Ottawa still fail year after year. If Brady stays in ott he will never learn from mstthew that it's better off playing for America. Sorry Canada.

The Ofd and Dfd is kinda the way a 1st pair is allocated. Who even is z
Josis partner. Like that should he a known. Who is playing with skeji? Carrier? Isn't Schenn their? Disaster.

Complete whiff on these signings. Pretty sad to see and yes I can't blame management or coaching. It makes me wonder why get rid of Johanson and Duchene if they just going to replace them with even older players. Oh yeah they won a cup.

This leads me to maybe they should do a massive rebuild the way SJ went.

  2. When NSH made those trades earlier this year, my assumption was that they were going to add accomplished veterans to a mixed roster with some youthful, faster skates. It appears that they went on a geriatric movement. I was surprised at Skjei's numbers. I knew he wasn't lighting up the net, but the NSH games that I've seen he has had assists galore…Saros has my sympathy, just as Blackwood has in San Jose for years. It takes an emotionally tough individual to thrive among mediocrity…

  3. You can GM and put together a hockey TEAM or you can collect hockey cards like Barry Trotz. Filip Forsberg, Steven Stamkos, and Jonathan Marchessault are all similar right shot players. There is no need for all 3 of them as they don't fit on a team dynamic. Yes they are all good. It doesn't work that way. That's all. There are only so many situational moments in a game and only 1 puck to go around. Nice dual Tomasino stats for the Pens and Preds proving my point.

  4. that 3.5 million offer tampa gave looks better and better each game…
stamkos will always be my favorite player ever but it’s been pretty brutal watching him without kucherov

  5. In terms of moving wedgewood for annunen, i dont think thats as egregious. saros is good and if youre not in a win now mode (which they aren't this season) heres no reason to keep him (and more so his contract). They picked up a young high potential goalie and got some breathing room in the cap.

  6. Well, we now know Smashville went all in during the summer with the old brand-name FA signings, and they gambled wrong, so they are totally screwed. Now they have too many old players who are likely to go on a decline…

  7. They need to start rebuilding realistically they’re starting to get a little bit older and their bodies are not the same as when they were early 20s

  8. I’m now officially taking back what I said before the start of the season of Nashville winning the cup, I don’t believe they’re going to make the playoffs

  9. Nashville disassembled their team and are now being plagued by the Stamkos Curse. I love it.
Buying out Matt Duchene, in hindsight, looks like it was a REALLY BRIGHT idea.

  10. It's pretty inexplicable what has happened to the Preds. They had a good team and they added good players. I can see, "Well, the additions didn't work out" and they fall back some and have a lousy year and miss the playoffs. But to become the worst team in the league? I figure they'll rally some and do better, but maybe they don't and it's just one of those years you can't figure out.

  11. Stamkos would have done much better for his legacy just to stay in Tampa no matter what they paid him. You can watch him over the years and see he's been losing steps here and there to the point where he's become very one-dimensional. At this point in his career he needs people to feed him the puck and it sure doesn't sound like that's happening in Nashville.

  12. It's incredible how they have always been an overachieving franchise. Here we are, people going into the season thought they were contenders and they are a bottom 5 team

  13. You mention that there is something with the young players that they aren't either being given opportunities or they aren't being deployed correctly, and from a Nashville fan, both are correct. Young players are being disproportionately punished for mistakes and are getting benched and if they aren't getting benched then they are receiving minimal ice time. Both Fabbro and Tomasino, when they were played in Nashville were stuck usually in the bottom 6 or on the bottom pair. The current system just isn't willing or able to grow young players and doesn't seem to want to change because they want to try to force the playoffs. The off-season was fun, but I think it's time to cut bait and make the best of the situation they have.

  14. As a reminder, Tolvanen scored the first playoff goal in Kraken franchise history, and had 16 goals and 11 assists in 48 games that same season we picked him up.

And who had Stephenson having a more successful season than Marchessault? I definitely didn't call that.

  15. Tire fire is an excellent term to describe Nashville's current situation. GM's banking on has been players to fix scoring is a lesson to be learned. As a Wings fan, I am happy Yzerman didn't get the Trouba deal done. We're hoping Kane can start finding the back of the net, but I'm not holding my breath.

  16. Being a great player doesn't necessarily mean you'll be a great coach (Gretzky and Roy, for example), AND being a great coach such as Trotz hasn't translated to being a great GM. He should have stayed behind the bench.

  17. I thought maybe they were final,y coming together when you had several OT games in a row, but the losses since then have been bad. I think the wheels may be coming off completely at this point.

  18. There was a graphic last night that showed the two former Preds in Columbus and their production.
Olivier would be 2nd in goals on the team and 5th among forwards in points [6th whole team].
Fabbro would be 2nd among defenseman in goals [T-7th whole team] and T-10th among the whole team for points, and 1st in +/- with +10 the next closest being Fedor Svechkov at a +2.
