Obviously time will tell if we won the trade but regardless I think Don made the right call

  1. They saw him skate in a few practices and were like “yeah that’s enough of that, back down you go”

  2. I hope he does well, just going to need some time to develop. But judging from how Evason uses his dmen, I don’t think he was going to fit in the longterm. And if that is the case, getting anything back for him is a win. Unless, CBJ does CBJ “things” and fires Evason and replaces him with someone who would be perfect for Jiricek.

  3. Until he gets his skating up to NHL level, he’s not an NHL defenseman. Hopefully for his sake, another team looking at him and deciding that he needs work will be the wake up call that he needs.

  4. Jiricek reminds me of Paul Giamatti’s character from 30 Rock.

    “Well I can’t skate backwards but…yeah I’m good.”

  5. There’s a lot of gymnastics being done by Wild fans right now.

I guess have fun playing for the 26th best team in the AHL and continuing to eat press box popcorn.

  6. Welp. Hope the AHL is much better for him as part of the Wild organization rather than part of the CBJ organization.

    Moving on.

  7. This was entirely expected. The Wild intended to stash him in the AHL exactly like we did. I honestly hope he succeeds not in spite of us or anything, but he deserves to develop well and make it to the bigs.
