Veteran right-hander Alex Cobb on what sets the Tigers’ pitching department apart from the other 29 MLB teams:

  1. I don’t doubt any of this. But the problem with signing Cobb, is that he can’t stay on the field. Doesn’t matter how good our pitching coaches are if you’re constantly hurt.

  2. This checks out with something I recall Skubal saying. That Chris Fetter and his staff have a really good way of telling you expressly and directly what *you* should do to improve

  3. Is it managements perspective to just to prioritize these pitchers you can find for cheap and spin them for prospects that you can keep for cheap over actually building a team to compete? I wish Scott or El Cheapo Caesar would just say that, so I can find a seat on the Dodger Bandwagon!

  4. that is awesome and promising. Sure didn’t work for Maeda, though. Hopefully year 2 it clicks in for him if he was against to what the Tigers were teaching last year.

  5. This is great. I’d like to see a pitcher that comes here to turn it around, do so and say I want to stay. I like the pitching coaches, Manager, front office, pitching the bulk of my games in Comerica etc. I want to stay and pitch the rest of my career here.
