Pritchard’s scoring has gone up 70% from a season ago and his SPG (steals per game) have gone up by 100% from last year’s championship season with the Celtics.
No player has EVER won both awards in the same season…
Will Pritchard (who’s played in 25 games – all off the bench) make history and win both awards?

yes
I don’t follow the NBA very closely outside the Celtics, so this question might be way off, but at this point what guards are ahead of him right now for All-Star consideration?
I’d say Buddy Hield was ahead of him for the first couple of weeks. But not anymore.
He would if MIP actually meant “most improved” but in recent seasons it just means “player on their first all-star team who we all knew was this good already and is finally getting the ball more because of injuries or trades”
I don’t care about MIP.
Like genuinely, how lucky are we to have him?
He should, but he won’t. Since he’s a shoo-in for 6MOTY, he won’t get enough votes for MIP, although he will deserve it more than whoever wins it.
He’s having a great year, but I doubt the voters would give him MIP, but that’s not what they generally use the MIP award for these days.
Gethhimoon the all star team
Def 6MOTY idk abt MIP since the voting is messed up
Jalen Williams is probably winning MIP
Gotta have him in the 3-point contest at the ASG
I think everything that could be said about this subject has been said already but I’d also like to add, the NBA is a business. The players are players don’t get me wrong but the actual league is a business and nothing less than.
MIP and SMOTY are effectively popularity contests and they sell jerseys and raise awareness for the teams that don’t matter (like the Lakers)
Boston Celtics are trying to secure an award like finals MVP once they’ve won consecutive championship titles. If the business that is the NBA gave ***everything***to the Celtics then the business would suffer. So no I don’t think he would. I’m saying that as someone that’s been hyped on Pritchard ever since he was drafted!!
PP has improved tremendously and is a star in his sixth man role, which is all we can ask for. The end of season awards are nice to have but hard to control or predict especially this early.
Nah, has a real shot at 6moty tho.
He might not win either let alone both.
*SMALL man of the year. I fixed it for you
Who’s the biggest threat for MIP?
Nah, media members love talking about different guys and don’t want to double dip too much when giving out rewards
I think he’s 6MOTY. But I give my MIP vote to Norm Powell. He’s been lights out this year
BIG PP
In the running for both.
He will probably win only one or the other if he continues this throughout the season. I’d be more surprised if he doesn’t win anything if he sustains this high level of play.
There’s still a lot of ball left in the season, but man I hope so
The only caveat on MIP is that PP was pretty good last year too. It’s a little wild that a player with his skill set is on the bench to begin with. I think the Celtics might be one of the deepest rosters of all time.
Darnell Armstrong did it in 1999. PP has a shot at 6MOTY, but I don’t think he’s in the running for MIP. That will go to one of the Jalens (Williams or Johnson). One of the other Hawks players, DeAndre Hunter, might fight him for 6MOTY as well.
