7. I understand the trade but its a major risk. Tucker could still leave in a year. Get something good on return for Bellinger and Suzuki and theyll be looking good

11. Yes they added a very good player, but they are going to get rid of two (Bellinger, and Suzuki). Tucker might be the best of the three, but it is still one in, two out. It is not as big of an upgrade as you think. Also, when they don't sign Tucker next year. and replace him with a prospect, where does that leave the Cubs? Oh yeah, a mediocre team, with a high rate of profit for the ownership…

16. KAP: Wesneski and Paredes weren’t ever going to get the Cubs past 83 wins. Smith is just another unknown. Who knows what Tucker will do? My personal feeling is that this move, though promising, is more of a lateral move because miser Ricketts will surely trade Belly now. So you’re trading the hottest Cub bat away for another hot bat. How does that get you past 83 without a bona fide starter, and closer? So don’t get too excited this early, KAP, until you see who Hoyer gets out on the mound.

19. Prospects are just that. Prospects. Giving up 1 is acceptable for me, so I would have taken the risk with the potential with a big reward. Now if they would have asked for Horton, Shaw, or Caissie in addition, I wouldn’t have unless he was signing an extension immediately. A possible job saving move for Hoyer, but I like the testicular fortitude to pull the trigger.

    for Peredes a 3B we didn’t need because of Shaw saying he was the 3B of the future and he didn’t last 3 months. There is no way the Cubs will pay this guy half what he wants as a FA after next year. So we gave up a ton of talent for a 1 year rental way to go Jed!!!!

29. Love this trade. Isaac did just okay and Hayden was shakey. And yes we gave up cam smith but we also gave Owen and Shaw. With that being said, we now have to fill our 3rd baseman goal. Any ideas what they do here?

41. I think Tucker sadly leaves after a year. So the Cubs need to make sure they sign someone for multiple years off the FA list. I know Ricketts doesnt want to do that but you owe it to the fans. Either Bring in Alonso on a multiyear deal (meaning they trade Belli for pitching) or go out and get Sasaki. Build the team around offense or pitching knowing Tucker might be a long shot to stay. Gotta have multiple back up plans. You cannot just give away Cam Smith for Tucker knowing Tucker is going to be gone. Gotta try and resign him but have other pieces in play. Get it done.
