[Montemurro] Cubs still need to add pitching. Doesn’t seem it’ll be someone like Corbin Burnes. This is what GM Carter Hawkins said Tuesday when asked about pursuing a player who has QO: “I mean, hypothetically, I wouldn’t rule it out. But at this point I don’t see us being active that way.”

TIL that, despite being traded, Burnes has a QO attached because he spent the full season with Baltimore. Only players traded mid-season lose the QO before their first free agency.
It’ll be a trade.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they end up making a deal for Castillo from Seattle
I dont have any interest in Burnes considering the deal he will command. His stats have declined three years in a row.
Sasaki would be the dream, but I’d take Castillo.
I’d rather get Castillo than Cease (rental)
I want to hear about the bullpen. They need SO MUCH HELP there.
[Also from Montemurro](https://x.com/M_Montemurro/status/1867702237080039702): Also going to note that because the Cubs went over the luxury tax threshold in ’24, if they sign a player who has a QO they’d lose $1 million in international bonus pool for upcoming signing period [Sasaki implications, then] plus 2nd and 5th highest draft picks in 2025.
It’s just money for Burnes. Come ON, you fuckers print money.
Well based on my MLB The Show league it’s Nico to the Mariners for Castillo.
Cease
Bring back cease please
Why not see how much Verlander is going for. Would love to get a city connect with his name on it
I’d be happy with a Castillo deal…he’s getting up there in age but it’s not like we’re needing him long term. He would fill a gap for us short term. They HAVE to get an arm. Taillon is likely to regress. He was way too good last year lol
