This is a chart showing the cumulative expected goal differential for each team week to week. The data is coming from SportLogiq, which uses a private model that is generally more consistent with the data the teams actually use than more public data.

This has the Lightning with the fourth best expected goal differential in the league, and with continuous growth week over week since November 4th.

  1. December has certainly been kinder to us than November. They just need to keep this momentum going and stay healthy. I would prefer we not lost to bottom feeder teams again, but its going to be what its going to be.

  2. It’s kinda wild how under the radar we’ve been this season as far as any media coverage, most people don’t have us as a top 10 team despite being 3rd in the league in goal differential with favorable analytics all while having the toughest schedule in the league.

This lightning team looks and feels different.

  3. We did very well in this initial quarter of the season with the strength of schedule we had, and that was basically without a functioning PP until the last 10 games or so. Add a forward and perhaps a D and I feel like we’re in a very good position.
