  1. So they are fine not spending a lot of money to get a top flight pitcher but are fine spending less money for not much.
Anyone remember Tsuyoshi Wada? Paid for 2 years, didn't throw 1 pitch.
This is a #4-#5 starter at best.

  2. I do not have a good feeling about this season at all. Why are we not doing absolutely everything to keep Burns?! Eilas is starting to get on my nerves. This sitting on the fence crap when we need to push NOW is getting ridiculous. Im starting to believe the rumors about him being the reason for not spending money this year are true. This is a waste of money. We need top talent, not some 35 year old that hasnt thrown a pitch in the MLB.

  3. We still need to go after more starters including burnes. N need to also sign Buehler, scherzer/Verlander , jack Flaherty. N we also still need another outfield bat and need 2 bullpen pieces

  4. Forget about his stat. What matters is that he had a superb comeback season this year. Honestly I thought he was done a couple of years ago. Still top 3 best starter in the league.

  5. Japanese splitters are doing well in the MLB. He was originally a slider pitcher with good control, but this year he has significantly improved the accuracy of his splitter.

  6. Sugano sounds like a Japanese parallel to our Zach Eflin. If he pitches 150 innings, he’ll fit in fine. Connor, you are becoming a bit of a worry-wart. Your audience tends toward panic until we sign BurnesCeaseSasaki, who I agrees is a damn fine pitcher. But let’s get real. Give Mike freedom to construct his team. For next year, Sugano looks better than Kikuchi who got a 3 yr deal. Buehler throws harder than Sugano but he often has poor command. I’d be happy with Mitch Keller for 4 yrs. He played as the ace of a bad team who would be better on a good team. Do you really want any 30 yr old pitcher on a 8 or 9 yr contract? There are very few pitchers who can stay healthy for that many years. I think Brandon Young will surprise many this year. One decent 1 or 2 will make me ecstatic.

  7. by all means try to re-sign Burnes and try to get a top end starter, but would not hurt to also add Justin Verlander on a favorable upside contract. He is from Virginia, might be interested in O's and having his presence on this pitching staff would be a win. Hope they consider Max Scherzer for similar reasons – had great success with Nats, likes the area, is a proven leader and winner.

  8. This is frckn LAUGHABLE. Way to go Oehz, swap out one tight arse billionaire owner and get doped into another. Elias is a communist. The franchise that spends 23% of its revenue on its on field product tryna bring a Japanese batting practice pitcher to MLB. What a joke. Have fun watching all these young studs sign with the Yankees and Red Sox and Dodgers and Giants and even other small market teams cuz this franchise still selling confederate money deals.
So what's the real plan? Run the team into the ground again? Be Tampa Bay north? Cool, still LOSERVILLE GAG CITY.
One year renting Burnes was bad enough but cooked into the sauce. Ya really think bringing a 15-16% strike out rate from Japan against those bum hitters to the MLB is gonna play? GTFOH w that noise.
    What a fckn joke!
