  3. Not worth it Cubs are asking to take on more 40 percent of the salary.
    Let’s them deal with the logjam in the outfield if so.

    Get a 1B and a corner OF.(Via a combination of trade and FA).

    It would be beyond stupid to take on more than 35 mil of the 52 mil contract over 2 years, as thats money that the Cubs can use to try to extend Tucker.

  5. It makes too much sense and there is no rush. Wait them out. If Bellinger goes elsewhere it’s not a huge loss. 

  6. So if they they’re trying to shed some cap, why not eat a bit more, get the deal done with some prospects not the top 2, and then you can still package Schmidt and or the other top 2 prospects for another bat. The Yankees desperately need to get some offense.

    Maybe they see Bellinger as priority #1 right now with his versatility defensively, and a reason why they want lesser of his contract is so maybe they consider bringing back Torres on something more than a “1-year prove-it deal” type of contract.

  8. Yanks holding firm on not taking on much of his salary. Thank goodness. The Cubs eating much of his salary is the only way we can hope to afford getting another pricey bat in FA

  9. This reminds me of when the Yankees traded for Verdugo to finally get the Padres to agree on the S*** deal. It might take a FA signing or a trade for a guy like Lowe to get Cubs to lower their ask.
