So the Yankees have now signed starter Max Fried, traded for All-Star closer Devin Williams and added Cody Bellinger since Juan Soto chose the Mets over them last Sunday.
And they will sign a free-agent first baseman between Alonso, Walker, Santana and Goldschmidt.

  1. To be fair, they were going to sign at the very least another reliever and a 1B regardless of whether Soto re-signed with us or not.

  2. I’m really starting to think that It was a blessing we didn’t sign Soto because I feel like It put a flame under cashman and that there are many different positions we needed to work on

  3. Seems like Alonso or Walker would be the big last move with a fill in/bargain at 2B/3B. OR Bregman would be the big move with one of Santana and Goldy being the ‘bargain’ option

Hal could go full George and let Cashman get both Bregman and Alonso/Walker. If that happens we’d get to see the Bronx bombers resurrected again, itd make Jazz our 7th best hitter ffs

  4. Payroll is at $287M post Bellinger

The brutal Cohen tax is $301.

They can’t get Walker unless they’re trading Stroman.

  5. Not Goldschmidt please he’ll go right off a cliff or get injured immediately, Alonso would be expensive but we know he can handle NY, I feel like he’s due for a bounce back yr

  6. So we’ve replaced Nestor with Fried, replaced Holmes with Williams, and replaced Soto with Bellinger? And plan to replace Rizzo with one of the mentioned 4 available 1B guys? Seems pretty solid overall

  7. To the people who said we couldn’t get much spreading out the $55M Soto’s getting paid: Fried, Belli, and Williams will cost $45.4M

  8. Best thing for the organization was not to be locked into another massive deal. The parts they’ve added already greatly improve them tremendously.

  9. Im really starting to feel soto leaving was an eye opener for this franchise that has been complacent for way too long, they have definitely attacked this off season with an urgency we have not seen around here, still work to be done

  10. **WAR In: 7.1**

    Fried 3.5

    Williams 1.4

    Belly 2.2

    **WAR Out: 16.1**

    Soto 7.9

    Nestor 2.6

    Torres 1.8

    Poteet 0.9

    Kahnle 0.8

    Verdugo 0.8

    Holmes 0.7

    Berti 0.6

Technically still haven’t even replaced Sotos WAR.

  11. So long as the gaping production holes of 1B/3B/LF and half the season at C are plugged in, I’m good.

  12. I’m not enamored with any of these choices for first base, but i think the silver lining in this selection is that there’s not going to be a long term contract needed to sign any of these guys, so if they can catch lightning in a bottle with any of them, it could work out really well at very little long risk.

  13. ive liked Cody Bellinger since hes days with the dodgers I’ve always thought he would kill in Yankee stadium so now we shall see i just hope he stays healthy
