Shows how little cashman values 1b

  1. One single player that we haven’t shown interest in since Fried comes off the board and everyone loses their minds.

  2. Crazy Ain’t even have to know the numbers to know that , you could just feel it all season

  3. And we were one Nestor fucking Cortez pitch away from a one game lead on the road in the World Series

  4. But hey! At least Boone started an immobile Rizzo every game in the playoffs so he could get a single every few games 🎉🎉

  5. Brian Cashman simply does not get this and it’s a major fault in him as a GM. He did the same shit during the trade deadline when we needed another bat and bullpen help and Rizzo in the playoffs was an automatic out and the bullpen got burned out. Dude thinks he’s too fucking smart. First base has been a black hole for years now. Singing reclamation projects to try to fix the issue has not worked. That’s why people can talk shit about AJ Preller but he fucking goes for it. He deals from a sense of urgency every time.

  6. I feel like we can somewhat punt on one infield spot but not two. You need to get a first baseman so you can use a combo of Oswaldo, Oswald, Vivas, etc to cover third or get a second/third baseman and depend on Rice, Oswaldo, DJ or random spring training invite to cover first or do the same to left field and move Belli to first.

They actually have a ton of options so it doesn’t make sense to freak out until we see what they end up doing

  7. No…it means the players used to play there weren’t good. It’s not like they signed Rizzo thinking he would be terrible

Also, if the overall team score runs but they are weak at first offensively. It’s not a big deal…as long as that player can field the position well

  8. Can’t go too long without someone complaining 🙄

They literally just traded for a 1B if they decide they don’t like any other 1B on the market. It’s still 2024, there is plenty of time before next season.

  9. I really think Cashman is looking at an even shorter stopgap for first base than the three year deal Walker got. It’s very likely he’s looking to trade for one on their last year or two of Arbitration and teams are high balling him knowing the desperate need for it

  10. 3rd base, SS, & LF were also bottom of the league offense wise.

That’s with adding Jazz at the deadline

  11. Seems bad, but at least first base isn’t a position that’s supposed to have a lot of offense right?

  12. This is insane that we’re really going to trout out the corpse of Goldy instead of just paying Walker a very reasonable 60 mill deal over 3 years……

Elite defense and solid hitter. Even if he falls off by year 3, the money isn’t bad and now we’re relegated to either Santana or Goldy who are both older. This is embarassing

  13. I’d rather get another OF (Luis Robert?) and put Bellinger at 1st. I think there are better short term options in the OF, even if it’s by trading

  14. I’m sure Cashman is prioritizing 1B.  I think he’s been prioritizing the 5 or 6 huge holes that the Yankees have had to fill this winter. He may not be able to plug all 5 or 6 with the biggest premier free agents in each spot what are you expecting?

  15. Santana or Goldie it is. There’s also Arenado, worst case we move him to 1st.

See we have lots of ancient options.

We are definitely winning the World Series next year.

  16. There is urgency in signing Vlad Jr. And hitting him #2 so they can’t pitch around Judge. Except he’s not available yet, so it doesn’t make sense to freak out.
