  1. I highly doubt they add anyone else. They are already over the first threshold for the luxury tax. They ain’t going over the 2nd and anyone worth signing is going to get around 20m AVV. Maybe they get Alex verdugo or some smoo like that.

  2. Sounds like we still have a problem at 3rd base. Tired of excuses. All we get are promises. This doesn’t look like ownership wants to spend money on our legacy players. It’s not going to be cheaper next year. Soto made sure of that.

  3. What we need is an owner that owns a cable tv network. Or have a salary cap that cost prospects instead of money. Don’t blame bregman. He didn’t promise to keep this team viable the owner did.

  4. We need Bergman. He doesn’t need us. This guy blaming Bergman because he doesn’t want to give up fifty million dollars? Yea right. Sorry Soto made the price of baseball to go up. Blame the mets and the dodgers. They are pricing the small market clubs out of contention. Free agency is gotten out of hand. 700 million? Thats ridiculous just for a ring.

  5. I kind of look at it like we are the Rays of the south.

We have these good players but when it’s time to pay up we let these guys walk and let these young guys or sign these good players and they can produce

Eric is right Crane hates these long term deals and with his thinking he not going to sign a lot of star players.

Do I agree with this thinking I do because you don’t want to have your money tied up to one guy and we know that these contracts backfire

Look at Staton with the Yankees I think the Yankees had wanted to get rid of him for years due to his injuries and he declining a bit.

But nobody is going to take him because of that contract.

So I’m fine with Crane method it has work so far we just got to hope Christan Walker and Paredes can continue to produce

  6. The stars leaving the astros is NOT the owner's fault! Springer, Correa, and Bregman, their best years are behind them. Just look at Springer and Correa after they left. Their "mega" contracts are basically dead money to their respective teams in their after age 30 years. Just imagine, their contracts would have been dead money to the astros now!!! So with that, Bregman should have been traded last year for 2 players or more. I like this version of the team, with the addition of an outfielder if the can trade Pressly. I love Luis Arraez for the outfield and to bat leadoff. Trade Pena and a minor leaguer for him!

  7. I'm loving this version of the astros. Sometimes, new blood is needed. The saying says, if you're not moving forward, you're just spinning your wheels. The team was going nowhere offensively with Bregman and Tucker. Especially with Tucker wanting that 10 year plus, and now 350 million plus contract!!! No!!!

  8. It would only help down the line, players know that if they come to Houston, when they become a free agent they are gonna get paid. And we still have good relationships with our ex-stars, it’s a win win for both. Its sucks we can’t keep all of our stars but young players should want to be here. We will see if not giving our long contracts is the smarter move.

  9. If signing a class player like Walker doesn't make you happy, remind yourself we have dodged a bullet with Bregman, dodged another one with Arenado, and best of all, it should mean we never see Singleton again.

  10. Bregman
    2016-2019 34SB 286/384/527 911 OPS 144 OPS+ 21.0 WAR
    2021-2024 8SB 262/350/444 794 OPS 122 OPS+ 15.7 WAR
Can we please stop talking about him and be glad he is gone ?
His numbers are already going backwards. Another 6 years of Bregman would be a disaster.

  11. I’m ticked off that bregman is leaving , but I’m ticked off at bregman himself. Ppl don’t realize that the astros still offered him a very decent contract. How selfish and greedy can a person be?!? Geesh! I feel betrayed by bregman. Let him walk, let him go. Forget him!

  12. If they get there draft picks back from bregman trade pressley it give them the money for santander still only lose the orginal picks they give for walker

  13. This logic just doesn’t work. How many contracts has Altuve signed? It was his choice to sign them. He did. And he’s the highest paid 2nd baseman in MLB. His contacts have netted him $324 million over 11 years. If Bregman would’ve signed his he would’ve netted around $300 million over 11 years with a $27 million a year salary. It was Bregman choice to leave. How is this signaling to FA or players that the Astros don’t pay? And you have the 3-4th highest payroll? And you’ve won 2 WS over the last ten years, and been in 4 of them.
