18. I love this team and the organization, but let's be honest they were never serious about re-signing Bregman. They never tried to extend him, they traded for 3 third baseman, they tried to trade for another third baseman with a no trade clause that was regressing. Bregman wasn't plan A.

20. Nolan isn't the same player but it still would have been an upgrade for cheap. Cards were sending money and you most likely would have given up nothing for him. He looks to still be in good shape and still play a stellar defense. I expect him to have a much better season with the change of scenery. This woulda been an upgrade for cheap. The problem the Astros are running into right now is Bregman is holding up the Astros on going after other free agents. It's also going to be hard to sign any big free agents because of the qualifying offers attached to them. It would cost us draft capital to sign these players which doesn't make sense since we're trying to rebuild our system unless it's on an extremely team friendly deal which is unlikely. We're really hoping Bregman resigns and call it an offseason. We really need to explore more trades so we dont have to worry about losing draft capital. I'm hoping we make a run on Yandy vs signing someone like Goldy. Only thing helping us is our division is weak but I expect the Rangers to have a much better season and wouldn't be surprised if the Mariners sign some offense before the season starts.

22. Nolan Arenado is a gamble, he could drop off a cliff, plateau and stay his current numbers, or catch a 2nd wind and have a couple of good seasons before he declines again.

    His defense is still solid, its just his hitting that has declined.

38. As a long time Astro fan, I personally am very happy that Nolan Arenado "rejected" the Astros. He looked old and weak last year and has obviously seen his best years fade away. The Astros have been the winningest team in MLB over the past seven years, and they will continue to do just fine without an "overrated prima donna" like Arenado. Thank you Nolan for saying "no"! More to come for the Astros!
