[Dorsey] Breaking: Right-hander Walker Buehler and the Boston Red Sox are in agreement on a one-year, $21.05 million deal which includes incentives, sources tell @YahooSports . The two-time World Series champion with the Dodgers now becomes the veteran arm in Boston’s new-look rotation.

  1. Damn. I know our rotation is looking really good, but you have to think if Cashman was able to have moved Stroman, we would’ve been all over this deal.

  2. I’m surprised he didn’t get more years. Maybe this was the highest AAV he could get and he’s betting on himself re-entering the market after a better year next season?

  3. The good news here is that the Dodgers don’t get compensation since they didn’t offer him a QO. Although I imagine he would have accepted it since this contract is exactly the value of the QO (but he does get up to $2.5 more million with performance incentives).

  4. Not sure if this is normal, but whenever I see his face, he has that Boston face…. We have few games this year to give him welcome treatment.

  5. Meh. It’s an interesting low risk move, but it’s pretty obvious there’s something going on with him. The recent numbers don’t match the name appeal

  6. Lol any chance this means we can get Burnes cheaper now? Landing spots are starting to dry up.

  7. The Red Sox rotation is:

Garrett Crochet, plenty of upside but he also just completed his first year as a starting pitcher

Walker Buehler, who hasn’t been good since 2021 and has lost his fastball

Lucas Giolito, coming off TJS and was one of the worst pitchers in MLB in 2022 and 2023

Tanner Houck, 4.42 ERA and 4.83 FIP in the second half

Kutter Crawford and Brayan Bello, LOL
