It Was Always the Jags – Dewey pissed off.

Listening to Dewey talk it’s pretty clear that some of the players lack the dedication and discipline that Wingard and others have, and have shown in the past. Not too subtle hints that the staff behind them isn’t pushing for a hard working culture since those players are still enabled by letting them play and start.
This was previously stated by Andre Cisco in an interview and you’d assume since both players are safeties they would be speaking of Savage or Johnson but that’s just a guess. Could be multiple.
Regardless, Wingard may not be the most talented safety in the league but with nothing else to play for let the man get his work in since he’s shown a dedication to the team and city even when things were really bad. He had his up and downs and his father even tried to tell the fans his son busts his ass but he didn’t get the love until the winning run and the “it was always the Jags” motto. Love his energy and love to hear him say he’s a starter in this league.
Hopefully new staff comes in and realizes Johnson isn’t ready yet and we find a solid vet and or draft a Day 2 safety who can come in and take reps.
Side note. Check the PFF stats. Dewey was on fire. Highest graded defender of the game for us.

I’ve always said that with a little more speed, he’d be a perennial starter in the league.
The man plays his ass off and it’s a shame they don’t find ways to work him in more (rotation, anyone?) especially on blitzes.
The highest rated player on a trash defense doesnt mean all that much. I really like Dewey. I’m glad he’s back and he brings a fire to this franchise, but we have to clean house on the staff and start over if we’re going to go anywhere. We are trash right now
Dewey has repeatedly demonstrated leadership qualities that I think have value on any roster, regardless of playing time.
He’s maybe the only guy I would keep around based purely on intangibles.
Josh Allen doesn’t pull his weight , ask Dew
You reading in between the lines of what Wingard is saying is very different than Cisco directly calling out the team for not trying.
This is a boilerplate interview from a guy backing himself. All subtext is inferred on your part.
I don’t understand how some guys can be going rogue on the field when they aren’t that talented. I would get it if they were a superstar and could control a game.
