In memory of Rickey Henderson. This photo is from the 78-79 season when he played for the Mayos de Navojoa in Mexico, hitting .257 with 22 stolen bases. That year, the Mayos were crowned champions and played in the Caribbean Series, where Henderson batted .348.

Rickey looked pretty much the same his entire adult life. And what a life it was!
My dad is from Los Mochis (home of the Cañeros). The amount of pros that played in the pacific league during the offseason is crazy. Dave Roberts, John Kruk, Mike Cameron, Dusty Baker to name a few. Baseball is big Northern Mexico. R.I.P Rickey 🙏
