Snell deal looking more like a bargain every day that passes
Very reasonable imo with Fried getting $218M
David Price was 7/217 and I know that was a decade ago but teams are more reluctant to do that deal now. Fried signed 8/219. The Nationals Scherzer deal for 7/210 with a ton of defferment is one of these late 30s contracts that has worked from start to finish. The other ones are a brick and salary dumped by 35. Position players can move to DH and maybe the last year or two of these contracts are rough. Pitchers are not on the field enough and they are so useless with velo dwindling. Relief pitchers are year to year and cheap.
245M is insane.
Juan Soto can cover that and still have the highest present day value of any MLB player, I think.

They totally should do it, cause these guys aren’t getting cheaper, and they need more innings alongside Logan. Probably know within the week.

An average of $30 million a year for 8 years would be $240 million. Corbin Burnes is 30(a full two years younger than Blake Snell), he’s thrown over 190 innings the past three seasons, he’s elite at not giving up hard contact. I think that’s worth it to some team.
7/245 is 35M per year which sounds like a fair expectation given Fried and Snell contracts.
