  1. God bless whatever teams forks over that contract, his K/9 has declined every year since he became a starter, which was only 4 years ago

  2. David Price was 7/217 and I know that was a decade ago but teams are more reluctant to do that deal now. Fried signed 8/219. The Nationals Scherzer deal for 7/210 with a ton of defferment is one of these late 30s contracts that has worked from start to finish. The other ones are a brick and salary dumped by 35. Position players can move to DH and maybe the last year or two of these contracts are rough. Pitchers are not on the field enough and they are so useless with velo dwindling. Relief pitchers are year to year and cheap.

    245M is insane.

  3. Juan Soto can cover that and still have the highest present day value of any MLB player, I think.

  4. idc if it’s an overpay, please shell out the money Rubenstein/Elias, Burnsy was the first true ace i’ve seen on the orioles in my brief time as a fan

  5. Posey just waiting for the green light that may never come. I’m sure they want him, but I’m not sold that ownership wants to pay what it might ultimately take. They totally should do it, cause these guys aren’t getting cheaper, and they need more innings alongside Logan. Probably know within the week.

  6. He’s not getting it. Corbin could get 7/175, which is 25AAV but anything more is crazy.

He’s looking for 7-8/245 mil which is 30.6/35 AAV.

Is it worth it for Burnes?

  7. An average of $30 million a year for 8 years would be $240 million. Corbin Burnes is 30(a full two years younger than Blake Snell), he’s thrown over 190 innings the past three seasons, he’s elite at not giving up hard contact. I think that’s worth it to some team.

  8. 7/245 is 35M per year which sounds like a fair expectation given Fried and Snell contracts.

  9. Arte, I want you to back up the fucking truck. We know you have this money. Maybe not Ohtani money, but this is doable. I know you don’t like to spend big on pitching. But this is worth it. Let the man be an Angel for the rest of his career.

  10. It is going to be weird if Fried gets an 8 year $210 million deal despite being a year older than Burnes but Burnes has to sign a prove-it deal in March

  11. So cool to see players getting the big bag. Hopefully, the owners don’t figure out how to make the fans pay for it.
/s I suppose this is appropriate.

  12. He only wants it from the Giants so he either gets it or he’ll have to accept what the Giants will give him 🤷‍♂️

  13. Cmon Ricketts. Either pony up or sign Sasaki. Do something to shore up this pitching rotation and not send Belli to the Yankees in vain.

  14. Why don’t they ever say how many years? You’d think that is more important than the top line number, lol.

  15. I wish Yankees signed him instead of Fried. I guess $218m for a lefty in Yankee Stadium vs righty for $245m was a better fit

  16. Burnes is going to get a decent contract. Bregman is going to get one of those weird Boras deals.
