"Aggressive Shoppers" this offseason. I would love if they could define that but I think they told us to our faces they are "Aggressively Window Shopping"
We want younger guys that can compete with our core. I thnk that's what Os management is looking for. Guys that are here for a few years. Not one hit wonders. Oneil and Sanches are stop gaps until our minor leaguers are ready.
The free agency value is high, and the O's are too scared or cheap to compete for anyone thats getting multiple offers, and they know it's not worth signing anyone that won't improve the team. So they'll try to trade prospects, and future.
I hate that getting outspent by the Yankees 3 to 1 (last I checked their payroll 315 million and O's like 115 million) is the norm. It's too easy. Not competitive. I think it is harder and harder for me to accept what MLB is. I'd rather the Orioles were in a competitive league with no stars. I don't care about celebrities.
Incompetence
If the O's bring back that bum Flaherty to Baltimore? I will be buying my first Yankee hat in 61yrs! I'd rather see the O's Pass totally than bring that bum back! Flaherty SUCKS in the East!
! If the O's were going to sign Burns they would have done it by now! O's should now: trade with Seattle for either Miller or Castillio and another trade with Pittsburg for Jones or Falter. I have absolutely NO confidence in Elias or Hyde!
Injury and Hyde's incompetent coaching cost the team 10 games I can easily show and 2 playoff games pitching too Witt with runners on! Hyde should have been FIRED!
The Orioles have commitment issues. They haven't really been the same since 1991, when that infamous "7 CDs For A Penny" deal went South, I can relate.
We need to be ready for the big deal we make with Henderson.
Liftoff! Lol
As an Orioles fan since 1977, im so over them and MLB.
It’s a tough off-season as all the super rich big market teams are looking for the same pieces we are. Not sure how the posters here live in a world where we outbid and are a more desirable destination than NY (yanks and mets), LA, Chicago and Boston. Too bad Rubenstein wasn’t in place last offseason – a time where multiple starting pitchers were seemingly unwanted for months….my how times change quickly.
When the Owner's and Management come out and express, they have every intention of improving this team and then, turn around and bring in guys like Lorenzo, Gibson, Lyles, and my favorite bum Flaherty? They deserve exactly what they get! It's no wonder big name players are reluctant or outright say NO too Baltimore! I expect: Grayson, Henderson, Adley, Cowser, Westy, Mayo, Kjerstad, Holiday, and Basillio to sign elsewhere as fast as they can. And I don't blame them! Can only BS people for so long!
At least those extensions are being done with the young core! Oh,wait.
Why is Ryan saying what did os fans expect. the new ownership said he was willing to spend yet Elias has let every free agent pitcher get signed without even trying if they don’t get burnes at this point the team is completely regressing
I thought the new owner was going to spend some money and make this team elite. With these guys the time is now.
The team is markedly worse instead of improved right now. What a downer
We should have gone out and gotten Crochet. Period.
You mean WHO, not "what" is holding O's back Its a stubborn Mike Elias
Is that a giant dong on the thumbnail?
The orioles will be fine buddy.
Nothing same stupid moves take all the crappie players at end of free agency
Scott Boras hasn't ruled out the Orioles regarding Corbin Burnes, which could just be agentspeak to keep the pot stirred, but I think the may have a shot. No one else has signed him, so hope is still out there, even it's a small hope.
I’m glad with the progress they’re making
The problem is the top pitchers and players are being signed by Boston and New York, which puts the Orioles third in the division at best. The Orioles should have been all in on Crochet and Walker Buehler. Fired was out of their reach. If they wanted to sign Burnes, they probably would be re-signed McCann.
The Orioles have never had any intention of signing major free agents. They're obviously waiting for the free agency period to wind down. After which teams are more likely to make trades after their rosters are more stable and set. They WILL make a trade or two for a young starter like a Jared Jones. Patience is key.
