Does SGA have a chance?

  1. It’s December, so many things are going to change between now and awards season. Really no point in talking about it until the all star break

  2. Yes, if we end up with 65+ wins and he continues averaging 33ppg since chet went down all the way until all star break then these averages will keep going up

  3. Giannis needs to chill.

I honestly feel like jokic gonna come down soon. Sga just needs to keep doing what he’s doing and passing the W column

  4. If he bumps his numbers up a bit, and Giannis and Jokic slow down a bit by the end of the season then yes he can. Assuming the Thunder have a significantly better record than the Nuggets and Bucks.

  5. Not really, unless those two get hurt and I don’t want anyone to get hurt. ThunderUp

  6. Regardless of who wins, SGA getting 51% fg is crazy considering hes a guard and is shooting crazy amount of 3s even though hes not that good at them… This is by far his best start to a season.

  7. I can understand why you asked it but..

if OKC end up 1 in the western and Nuggets end up like 4 or 5, I m giving it to Shai.

He firmly would deserve it if he continues with his high level. Despite Jokic keeps amazing us every week with those triple-dobles and all that stuff he does…

The thing is the NBA Cup’s final. Giannis and Bucks are still increasing since they realized they have a good team to fight in the east and that chip (which sadly won…)

  8. I think if we end up having a 10 to 15 game win differential, that will make things more interesting.

Not sure what else Shai needs to do, he won’t have the insane assists or rebound numbers but he has leads in advanced stats like EPM, steals, and currently is the total points leader

  9. There’s a real chance both of their teams are play-in teams. If that’s the case and OKC is still the clear #1 seed, I think he gets it, but that’s not the most likely scenario

  10. Probably not. The numbers speak for themselves. SGA would have to become an assist factory and a 3P sniper, which doesn’t seem likely this season.

  11. If he can be 15 games up on these guys by the end of the year he’s got a chance

Otherwise he’s gotta get more counting stats. 8 asssits minimum

  12. I doubt it since Jokic gets 160 touches per game. The nuggets built their team where if Jokic doesn’t do everything, they’ll lose. After the championship, they have become more Jokic centric, so his numbers will always exceed SGAs since they don’t care about Ws

  13. Honestly no unless he averages 40 for the rest of the season but I love him anyways. That Bucks game (although it doesn’t count for our record) might have sealed the deal since it was the biggest stage we will play on in the regular season and we got dismantled by Giannis

  14. I think Giannis gonna win it if all 3 stay healthy. MVP burnout gonna hit Jokic voters and Giannis has been a 1 man army. I think it’s gonna come down to where the Bucks and Nugs finish in the regular season. Whichever team has the best record I think it’s gonna go to them.

Unfortunately we are suffering from success and we’re so deep it’s hard for Shai to stand out this season where Jokic and Giannis are 80% of their teams by themselves.

With that being said. SHAI MVP LETS FUCKING GOOOOOO.

  15. His case will emerge through longevity when it finally starts to dawn on the voters that he has done this without Chet and we are still miles ahead in the better conference. He needs some signature moments and crazy statistical games though. I don’t think it happens if he doesn’t break 50 points at least once this season or without a game winner or two to bolster his case.

  16. A very good chance.

Jokic is still the one to beat and Luka is about to join this conversation. Mavericks have been insane.

Tatum also has taken a mini leap and the Celtics could easily turn it on again for 65 wins or so if they wanted.

One of the more insane mvp races of my lifetime.

  17. Our team honestly might be too good, as much as we like to think Shai is the only consistent shot creator.

  18. It’s difficult because the other two guys are so dominant on teams that are so centered on them,
whereas our team is meant by design to be more team-centric. If qualities like leadership and helping all team members be better versions of themselves get more taken into account, then SGA wins hands down. However, we’ll see how everything plays out as the season progresses. If our team keeps playing well or significantly better than the others, of course there’s a chance. What would really be sweet is MVP of a certain playoff series, or just getting to that series. I don’t care that much about regular season MVP unless SGA gets it.

  19. Honestly, no. Chet will have a better shot than Shai because big men have a running stranglehold on the award. I think we’ll see an even bigger run by Wemby compared to what we’re seeing by Joker once he’s in his 3rd or 4th year in the league.

  20. Sadly being number one means nothing to the votes that matter. They don’t care who deserves it the most.

  21. Shai won’t have better stats than Jokic and Giannis cuz of positions but if OKC can win like a ridiculous amount of games, 65+, I think the argument becomes pretty simple to make.

Best player on the best team in the league who plays both ways and carries one of the youngest team in the league to the best record in the league. Otherwise Jokic or Giannis will have some insane stat lines and win another MVP.

  22. You guys will say I’m crazy. SGA wins the MVP but Dub is more valuable to the team’s offensive flow, chemistry, etc.

  23. I really don’t think so, I think he’ll be lucky to make top 3 in voting this year, but I think it’s a good thing that teammates are taking stats off him. We’re playing better team ball than Denver, Mavs and even Bucks (despite the IST loss). Let those guys battle out MVP and Shai can focus on Finals MVP!

  24. If we run away with the West, Milwaukee falls off, and Denver stays disappointing, then yes. But without all of those things happening? No.

  25. I think the only way he gets MVP is if we make the conference final this year and he looks amazing next year too. The MVP game is about narrative and star power. This shit is like that terrible ending to game of thrones. Right now Giannis has the best story

  26. It’s probably not gonna happen, but the best thing about Shai is that he has serious contributions that don’t show up on these minimizing stat bumps.
