  1. What's the next step for the Mets?….I would say aside from Soto, the way things are "not" moving at all. the next step will be now to wait till NEXT YEAR!

  2. Another hitter? Not SP? Or RP? Haha the angels can prove to you that you can have an amazing lineup but with no SP Or RP and having a balance of all 3 you ain't going no where.

All these comments tell me either Mets fans still high off the Soto sign they haven't come back down to reality, give em the ring already haha

  3. I don't know why it's so obvious that the Mets should overpay Alonso when no other team is willing to overpay him. The Walker signing sets a good baseline for what Pete should get.

  4. No starting rotation and a shaky bullpen. Currently no one not even close to back Soto like Judge but this guy thinks the mets are better. Obviously a bias writer and probably should open his eyes to see reality. What a joke of an episode

  5. Yep. Cuz two worked out let’s build an entire rotation and pen off of projects and try to win a WS. Smfh I’m sure it’ll work out just like that every year. So tired of this hearing this plan for pitching

  6. Alonso was maybe 5th best hitter on Mets for most of the year….he is not worth more than $75 mil over 3 years…if Christian Walker is only worth $60 mil over 3 years….why is Alonso worth much more than that…

  7. Pete is on the other side of 30 and had a down year. A large percentage of his homers came with the game out of reach…meaningless homers. His batting average was awful, and he strikeouts a ton. He won’t protect Soto…pitchers will just pitch to him, he’s not a tough out. Let’s get Bregman.

  8. We NEED Sasaki or Burnes. I would love to have Pete back. He fills that hole. I think he’s coming back. I don’t think anyone else wants him for the price he’s asking

  9. The Mets shouldn't give Alonso more than 4 years. They have a good fallback in Mark Vientos. If Alonso had had just one bad year, it would be one thing, but two bad years in a row is pretty telling.

  10. Word has it that he Cardinals are actively shopping Jordan Montgomery. He has a really good career track record and has shown that he can pitch in big games. Supposedly, they tried to shop him to the Cubs for Bellinger and got turned down. Perhaps they can swap him for Jeff McNeil or Jose Buto. Castillo is not going to come cheap.

  11. I am a Mets fan, but I don't know if I would pick the Mets in a Subway series. At least not yet. I don't think the Mets have the pitching. I can't believe I'm saying this, but the Yankees have much better starting pitchers with Gerrit Cole, Max Fried, Luis Gil, and Carlos Rodon. The Mets have Kodai Senga (returning from missing a season), David Peterson (who had a great half-season), and Clay Holmes trying to be a starter. If the Mets sign Sean Manea or David Stearns trades for a high-quality starter, I will be more optimistic about their chances. Actually, let me rephrase that. When the Mets do one of those things, I'll be optimistic because Stearns will do one, if not both. I am even hopeful the Mets could sign Roki Sasaki. The odds are against it, but I can come up with a pretty good pitch for him to sign with the Mets.

First, I think Sasaki is willing to forego a Yamamoto-like contract because he expects to make a lot of money from endorsements. NYC is the biggest media market in the world. The only team that would give him a better chance to pitch in the postseason every single season than the Mets would be the Dodgers. However, if he signs with the Dodgers, he'd only be the third-biggest Japanese player on the team. If he signs with the Mets, he will get the chance to pitch to Ohtani during the regular season, and there would be a good chance every year that he would also pitch against him in the postseason. I am sure that not only does Sasaki want to pitch against Ohtani in big spots, but there is no matchup the Japanese media and public want to see more than Sasaki against Ohtani. Yes, the Yankees could provide the chance to pitch against him in the World Series, but the odds are against a replay of the 2024 Series in any given year, while the Mets and Dodgers are likely to make the postseason every year. Finally, if I had been writing the Mets pitch video, I would have been sure to include footage of the way NYC fell in love with Doc Gooden at the start of his career. Obviously, this would include the West 42nd Street mural morphing into a Sasaki mural. Or would that have been too much?

  12. PETE has most HRs since 2019 by far only second to MVP Judge!
He loves NYM and fans love him!
Im not suggesting to overpay but certainly they can meet in middle- unless the jack*** agent Boras destroys negotiating in good faith?!
Get another SP as well is a must!
    LGFM!!!!!

  13. Pete's comp is less than Walker. $20 million per is going to be a stretch for Pete. Lucky for Pete he's 3 years younger. Unlucky for Pete is his numbers indicate a declining player.

  14. For the next come up Met you gentlemen forget about Acuña? About to be a mere 20 and already last year showed us he is definitely an Acuña? Lol cmon guys! Mauricio is another one i think will at least get called up for 20-40 games or so. We'll see

  15. @michaelmcchesney6645 Yes, whatever he gets he should be happy with getting. IMO, the endorsement money he gets in NY area more than makes up what he will get elsewhere. He most likely wasn't considering that aspect. Getting more somewhere else, but losing the NY advertising gigs, would have equaled about the same. I'd rather be happy being comfortable where i am, then go to elsewhere and start anew. That's just me. 🤷‍♀️
