I remember the day the Yanks signed him. It really felt like we were gonna be unstoppable.

This makes sense. That 2009 team was something else.
Amazing how he spent ten years of his HoF career with the Yankees and still feels underappreciated in some corners.
* We paid him the money.
* We got him the ship.
Damn right, CC!
I love CC man. Aside from his obvious stellar tenure with the Yankees, his story of reclaiming his life by fighting for sobriety is so inspiring. I’m 6 years sober and reading about his struggles and success with overcoming alcohol was a great help to me. What a great dude and great Yankee.
Fucking love CC.
Would have bet my life on that. Spent most of his career with the Yankees, won a championship, de facto player coach, involved in recruiting players to the Yankees after retiring etc. Guys as bought in on being a Yankee as anyone ever has been
As a left-handed pitcher (only made it to 2 years of D1 ball) who was born in ‘99, CC is my idol. Absolutely love the girt- and more so- the guy.. love what he does for charity, POC, the game etc etc ..and just to see how much of a madlad he was on the mound, and how much he cared ab his team and teammates(see: ejection v. Rays) what a fuckin guy. Truly an exemplar of what it means to be a Yankees pitcher. First ballot all the way.. love u CC
Eh if I was a guardians fan I might feel a way about that. He won in NY, but his peak imo was with Cleveland. It does seem like he’s acclimated himself more with NY than Cleveland by far in retirement though. I find it hilarious that before we got him he was dead set on going back to California where he was raised and didn’t want to come to the east coast, but now he’s moved all of his family to Jersey and raised his kids on the east coast. If there’s anyone they should have talk to guys like Sasaki it’s CC.
No surprise here. CC pitched for the Yankees 11 seasons. Won 134 of his 251 games in pinstripes. He was worth every penny we spent to get him. His career as a whole is HoF worthy. CC was a heck of a pitcher.
We love you too CC
I’m normally in the “they retire too many numbers” camp, but I feel like going into the Hall as a Yankee should make it automatic. 52 hasn’t been worn since, so they may be leaning that way
#THAT’S FOR YOU, BITCH!
Guy is such a Yankee through and through
Retire the number
As he should. He was what a Yankee is supposed to be. I’m grateful to watch him while I was growing up
CC, what else can we say about him? He gave his body to Yankees. He even gave up his bonus to protect his teammates.
2009 ALCS. CC is shutting down the angels at home with the crowd chanting “CC CC” is one of my favorite Yankees memories ever. Hated facing that angels team in the 2000s.
I had seats one game and saw CC warming up in the bull pen, jr was something else to be that close to him throwing heat. it didn’t even make sense how fast he was throwing(
That 2009 team was amazing. By July of that year I knew they were going to win it all. There was no way any team would have won 4 out of 7 against them. It got scary for sure in October, but my god that team had talent, grit, heart..had great fundamentals and an actual good manager unlike Boone.
The Hall of Very Good is more like it. Stone cold thief over the last few years of his contract. The sob finally decided to get healthy…. after he literally stole millions from the fans. How many “ jerseys “ did you have to buy to get him paid ?
I saw him at Burgers and Lobsters not too long ago. Was crushing a burger with his Yankees fitted on.
