The shooting splits are what’s truly impressive to me in this stretch. He has a TS% of 64.7%, and his shot selection is still kinda bad.
He averages 40% from 3 and people still say he isn’t a good shooter.
In a few years when he’s taking twice a many as he is now…it’s gonna be such a cheat code that he’s an 85%+ free throw shooter
People who keep yapping that he should stop shooting 3s don’t even watch our games.
The shot is fluid and has been cash money. He can shoot 10 or more per game with his percentages now. It’s an unguardable shot and also preserves his long term health.
Funny thing about his shooting is that its switched from last season where was a good pull-up shooter from the 3 and a poor catch & shoot guy.
Now he’s about 62 EFG% on his C&S’s (with his volume it’s excellent) and 41 EFG% on his pull-up’s (not excellent).
He’s shooting about as well as Payton Pritchard is on his c&s shot which is like… Wow. Curry also has the same metrics, matter of fact it look identical this season.
People don’t realise wemby is just straight up one of the best shooters in the league. They see 7’3 and think he can’t be that good of a shooter and should just bang down low and don’t realise how unguardable his shooting is.
What can the defense so when you have to contest the center 30 feet from the basket. Literally players are jumping on 30ft bombs from wemby so the opposing teams coaching is drilling into their guys to not leave him open, but apparently reddit experts know better for wemby.
Wemby also has one of the softest and smoothest jump shots in the league, shoots damn near 90% from the line, it sounds crazy but he legit can be a top 10-5 shooter in the league at 7’3. Haters don’t want to admit that wemby is eclipsing every player in the league soon. 20 years old lol. By next season he will be undisputed best player in the world.
I can’t believe Im writing this about a SPURS PLAYER after what happened with Kawhi and the bad seasons we have had. But here we are probably the best player in the league when he’s on. Actually there I said, when wemby is going, he is the best player in the league. His ceiling is just way higher than anyone else. Never seen a player shutdown offenses and absolutely annhilate defenses like he does when he is on
