20yo, not 21 yet
Why would Pop be mad at him taking those threes? He's been doing it all year. Who do you think was coaching him to take that high volume?
Wemby is a top 5 player already which is insane since he should be a junior in college…doesn’t even make sense how he’s good this fast
He's been playing like this for about a month now…. I guess those who haven't watched him much were surprised by that Christmas showing. 50 % from the field, around 37 % from three and 90% from the line. He just took way more shots against the Knicks. He doesn't chase rebounds outside his area often, but if the ball is just above him, he'll get it over anyone, hence the 18 boards.
He seems to be getting better by the week, which is exactly what happened last year too.
Turns 21 soon but not 21 Brodie 💯
Correction: wemby just turned 20 thus year. He is not 21.
Coach Pop was the one who encouraged him to be more of a perimeter player this season. He said that Wemby is more of a perimeter player in one of his interviews before he went out indefinitely. And I think the Spurs are being smart about how they develop him. Wemby developing his jumper this early on in his career is less wear-and-tear to his knees in the long run. And with his current skinny frame, him camping out on the paint on both sides of the court for an 82-game season is risking him a lot to injuries. He’s already doing a lot for his team on the defensive end, so I can understand why the Spurs would want him to be more of a perimeter player on the offensive end even if it’s just for injury prevention. Also, him having a jumper and keeping the defense honest will open up the space for his teammates. The Spurs are also probably still waiting for his body to mature and gain more weight and strength. Wemby started out in October shooting 24% from 3-pt. In November, he shot 37% from 3-pt and currently in December, he’s shooting at 39%. His overall 3-pt% is 36%. His 3-pt shooting is definitely improving and he’s shooting it at a high clip, too. If Wemby develops into a 3-level scorer, he would be so formidable in the future. His midrange % improved, too. We have already seen what he can do on the post last season so why not use this season to develop the skills that currently still needs more work while waiting for his body to mature? The Spurs aren’t real contenders yet anyway, especially in the West. And his team needs more quality pieces around him before you can say they’re ready to contend for real.
Spurs have not been healthy. Sochan and Devin have both missed a month, so basically half the season. Last week was the first time they had their legitimate starting 5.
Spurs sem o CP3 ainda não é um bom time, então não temos um futuro garantido, precisamos de um armador para o futuro
Spurs haven’t been healthy started off with Devin out then sochan then tre jones and Stephon castle the same game not to mention there head coach for the past 2 decades hasn’t been with the team this team is impressive it’s crazy WEMBY TAKE OVR HAS STARTED 🔥
