On this day (December 28) in 1946, the Miami Seahawks franchise folded and was sold to begin a franchise in Baltimore… a team that would be known as the Colts!
The Colts would stay in Baltimore from ‘47-‘50, which they donned green & white uniforms with YA Tittle under center. After a 1-11 season they would then dissolve and become the New York football Yankees, followed by a year as the Dallas Texans.
They returned as the Baltimore Colts, wearing blue & white, in 1953, the year the NFL traditionally accepts the beginning of the Colts franchise. (Go Triangles!)
