[Bultman] Todd McLellan talked last night about the Red Wings looking mechanical. At today’s practice, one of the coaching points we could hear from up top was, “Play fucking hockey. You’re done it your whole lives.”

I feel like I’m going to get a lot of mileage out of this gif relating to TMac.

  2. Music to my pessimistic ears.

Honestly I hope he breaks them like an Amish mule and builds them back up. They’re in the top 1% of athletes worldwide and they need to act like it.

  3. Some tough habits are going to have to be broken

A number of these guys have played in an ultra conservative style under both Lalonde and Blash

It’s not going to be an overnight fix to play loose after having experienced those systems, like Mo, Razor even Larkin all they know is rigid defense first systems that limit creativity and neutral zone aggression to create quick transition offense

  4. Looks like the era of “we weren’t supposed to be here” and “woe is me our opponents are just too good” is over.

  5. Finally we’ve got a real coach and not some goofy clueless little stats fartsniffer. Poor players for having to endure dumbass Derelicté’s daydream nightmare come true.

  6. This guy has been here for 24 hours and he’s already said like 10 things I’ve thought about this team for months

  7. Holy shit… A head coach actually coaching! About damn time. I wonder what his thoughts are on using timeouts?

  8. I expect the team to perform above the level they did before Lalonde’s firing. I do not expect them to sniff the wildcard. This roster still needs a bit of an enema.

  9. Used to have a coach that would yell “don’t be a fucking robot” we’ll see the changes once they develop a good foundational system together with a core group and learn that it’s only really there as a fall back…you have to play the game in front of you first and foremost

  10. Ya know a few months or so back i remember saying that we need a coach like an old school coach who would yell at them to get their butts moving lol

  11. Veleno with Larkin and Raymond in the third was a big tell. I’m no Veleno fan but it was refreshing to see a change like that. Things will be different and better hockey to watch

  12. I’ve got a good feeling about this. He’s super aware of how delicate a balance he needs to take between trying to fix things and allowing them to play with fewer restrictions.

  13. Make this the new LCA chant “play fucking hockey” in stead of “let’s go red-wings” until the team gets it’s shit together.
