As a California sports fan and my favorite teams: The LA Dodgers,LA Lakers, San Jose Sharks and the SF 49ers. I find Norcal sports channel to be fair, honest and entertaining. I hope the SF Giants put together a competitive team, nothing beats the Dodgers vs Giants rivalry in baseball. We might dislike each others teams but sports is about respect, fun and sportsmanship. Cheers and Happy New Year.
1st the billion dollars got won by someone else and now Burnes signs with Arizona and now I find out I've got 2 nails in my tire. How much more can I take. Nooooo not another gut punch 😢
Flaherty is a Giants signing. Just the kind of player they live and die by
Things are very bad right now as a Giants fan. I really don’t think the Giants have moves to make to catch the Dodgers,Az or even SD now without draining out what farm players you have left. Yea they could snag Alonzo and Kim with a Jack Flaherty to put out there to fill the park but that probably isn’t happening either do to the cost it will take. It’s bring in stars fill the park and pockets or just break even with overpriced concessions a few star athletes. As is I’m not planning on attending games and everyone I know isn’t either.
Giants never had an offer on the table. Slusser reported that they only had talks at the winter meetings and it didn't go beyond that. Cheap ownership.
Right Dan when they signed Adames and extended Chapman the rebuild idea should be mostly gone now. Play the young ones where you can and go sign some useful vets and try to be competitive. If you can sign Santandar to a similar contract that Christian Walker got do that if not move on. Call the Cardinals about Fedde and Helsley. Kick the tires on a Pablo Lopez trade. See what the Padres would want for Arraez. Look into an Andrew Heaney and Jakob Junis or both out of free agency. I would pass on Flaherty he seems like trouble. They can still put together a good team, but they got to get moving.
I stand with the Giants on refusing to do an opt out cuz we lost a ton of money with Rodon and Snell. I think the sane thing would happen.
I think another deal with opt outs to a player with a qualifying offer is the issue here.
If they're sacrificing another two draft picks then it would want to be on a long term deal.
How much salary do the Giants have left to remain under the tax bracket? I think pick up the phone and call Toronto to make an offer for Guerrero Jr.
I dont think the Giants are all in for 25 and thats okay if theres an actual plan for 26. Not confident however.
I like the idea of of signing Alonso with the plan of eventually moving him to DH as soon as Eldridge is ready. Alonso had -1.1 dWAR last season so he is more valuable as a DH anyway. Alonso is one of the few guys in MLB with enough pop to be a consistent 30+ home run hitter in Oracle. Then sign Jack Flaherty to fill the hole Blake Snell left in the rotation when he joined the Dodgers. The rotation is going to get worse with Snell, Burnes and Fried off the board. There's no way around that. Hopefully Flaherty combined with Alonso's power in the lineup will be more than enough to make up for the loss of Snell. That's the best I think we can hope for. They could also always go after Bregman as a 2nd baseman too but I'm not sure if that makes sense for the price. If they spent the money to do that as well it wouldn't hurt though. There's also guys like Santander who could help the offense via the outfield or guys like Tanner Scott and Jeff Hoffman who could shorten the game via the bullpen as well. Hopefully they do all of those things but we will have to see how committed ownership actually is this season. Winning costs money and right now the Giants still look like a 4th place team to me. Ownership needs to finally come through for once. This isn't some cheap rinky-dink franchise like the Tampa Bay Rays. This is the San Francisco Giants and the owners need to start acting like that IMO.
It’s frustrating to be a giants fan right now
I am of the mindset that elite hitting is more impactful for the Giants than elite pitching because of our ballpark. An average pitcher is automatically above average when pitching in Oracle, which essentially narrows the gap between an average pitcher and an elite pitcher (bc there is an absolute threshold of how ‘good’ a pitcher can be). The opposite is true for hitting. An elite hitter is thus a more impactful addition than an elite pitcher. The impact is further magnified when you consider our farm system strengths (pitching) and weaknesses (hitting)
I’m tired of the op-outs, no more losing international money and draft picks. Use all that money and sign lower tier FA, and strategic trades from strength.
There is bad blood between Flahrety and Adames
"shunned the Giants". Same song, different year.
Where is this opt out information coming from? It doesn’t sound like that was an issue with the Giants no getting him.
At this point they’re gonna need to improve by trade
Giants aren’t giving Alonso 35 mil a year 😂😂😂
Stop. The giants don’t need more old, slow, wanna be homerun hitters, low average and strikeouts way too much. The giants need to optimize their ballpark with more speed and contact hitters.

Dark days.
Sadly, this team and its ownership group is a joke
It's tough to lose out on Burnes, but if he wasn't willing to commit to more than two years because of the options built into the contract it didn't work for the Giants. Still some less expensive ways to improve the roster.
As presently constructed, even if they had gotten Burnes, I don't think the Giants even make the playoffs much less win a series. Especially against the defending World Series champion who has improved their roster.
I think the Giants got too confident that Burnes was coming. Also, they're still fighting the stench of the Zaidi years and are more scared of giving optouts than most teams.
What do the Giants do with all their money?
Have to get Sasaki & Polar bear Pete Alonso AT ALL COSTS. I'm not spending on tickets anymore unless they get more talent
Trade for luis castillo
trade for vlad jr and extend him before the season. we need a move that is good for the now and the future
