The teams that could have signed him are probably the Blue Jays or maybe the Orioles.
I am pretty surprised he didn’t take the 250 Million but at least he’s out of the division.
Are we assuming that team is us? Because let’s be for real here.
apparently dude just had two kids with his wife, loves being back home in AZ, and the taxes are much better there, so any other team had to go way over to outweigh those personal reasons and I’m not gonna be mad we’re not paying 35 mil a year for a great pitcher over 30 already showing signs of decline
So … the Blue Jays.
What a hero
Honestly good for him. He’s still making a fortune but prioritizing his home and his kids.
Sucks we don’t get him but I respect the move
I cant believe how many people on red sox twitter are unable to accept the fact that either he or his wife’s #1 priority was living in AZ where they just had twins and just bought a mansion. all the reports in the last week about his demands were just trying to milk more out of AZ.
he could have bought a house anywhere in the country but bought a house in scottsdale. and everyone is acting like for a few million more he would have just signed in boston or toronto than he was offered by AZ
He wanted to stay out west. The Sox were never really in the running. Sit tight until the trade deadline and aim for the top of next years free agent crop. No sense in paying top dollar for this years scraps.
