Corbin Burnes and his wife just had twins and wanted to stay home in Arizona, prompting a deal with the D-backs. It’s shocking, but also pretty awesome. The D-backs have been among the most affected by RSN uncertainty, and yet they keep going for it.

‘Pretty awesome’ is doing some heavy lifting here for Giants fans
The Bay Area is a great place to raise kids. Arizona sucks. Not biased at all.
Let’s live in a fucking desert.
on a 7 year deal for $220m, i think he could own a house in the Bay Area and Arizona
Ah, the good ‘ol “Let’s use the Giants for leverage” tactic. Classic and timeless
Cool that when they grow up, they can look back and pinpoint this exact day as the one that ruined their lives!
Once they reach the ripe old age of 2, *then* he will be okay to go wherever.
Yeah the flight to Phx from SF is uncomfortably long, like what, an hour? 😂fucking laughable! Shorter than most drives in LA. Fuck Burnes and fuck Boras, again! The org has to be sick of getting strung along by this asshole.
Yeah this is BS. San Francisco may be a bad place to live for the fans but it’s awesome if you’re loaded with cash. Just like the rest of the USA.
I prefer this explanation to “taxes”, tbh
With taxes, it ended up being about money. That staying home part is to save face with Giants, Blue Jays, and Baltimore fans, and his wife.
So he just now realized he had newborn twins? Whatevs
Now that it’s been 12 hours or so, I’m really not that mad at losing out on Burnes, I was initially after seeing the number, but I’ve definitely mellowed out and especially after hearing we offered more.
After hearing how Buster landed Willy, I think the character of players is more important to him than all the “winning the off season” shenanigans. If a guy is gonna give you the Boras run arounds, get 35 AAV and still require an opt out, he’s not really a guy who wants to be a part of the club, he’s a self focused guy.
Buster said to Willy “we want you to be a Giant let us know what you think is fair” and that’s it. Those guys might be hard to find, but I think a lot of us get way too caught up in winning the off season
No offense, but I don’t blame them for preferring to live in Phoenix metro rather than Bay Area, especially if they already have a home there.
Oh well let’s move !!!!
