Good signing go tigers
NOW GO SIGN BREGMAN PLEEEEEASE 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
It's been a long time since I've actually been excited for baseball season. LFG Tigers!
a lot of money for a 250 hitter who has a bad attitude and doesn't run out ground balls. if you read about him it doesn't sound like a good deal. but detroit makes lousy free agent deals. juan gonzales, then a pitcher who got 20 million a year for 5 years and only won a few games the whole time. then a shortstop who got even more and can't hit his weight. then their number 1 pick who hits 220 and strikes out a lot. sounds like the illig family is spending a lot of money for nothing.
I have mixed feelings about this. On one hand, I like the offensive upside. On the other, he’s a poor runner and defender. I’m worried he could upset the chemistry the club has – especially after Javy was out.
This feels like a Harris trying to be the smartest guy in the room. The tigers need 2 righty power bats. If this is the only move, I’m pissed. I do like that this pushes Tork and I do think Keith had to move to first eventually as he’s too big to play second and is a minus defender with a minus arm. It also allows Jace to take over in 2026.
Since they are trying to do things on the cheap, I would sign JD Martinez who I think can still be very productive and provide some leadership. I know they like flexibility, but they need to get over that as flexibility means nothing if you can’t score runs. I would’ve preferred Goldschmidt who’s been more consistent.
They need to stop being cute and go after guys like Santander. Power wins, not flexibility and funky lineups. Stop trying to be the smartest guys in the room and sign power bats with a track record!
“The Javy and Trey Sweeney Show” 😂😂😭
While I agree with our LOT host that Colt keith was improved at 2nd base, this has more to do with an in house option to replace Tork in case he struggles. I dont agree that keith may not be able to handle 1sr base, any MLB ss or 2nd baseman can play 1st base, ss and 2nd base are highly skilled positions, 1st base is easy by comparison. The transition is a non issue. This move sets the Tigers up for flexability and insurance if Tork does not get a break thru. Also if Keith regresses and Tork hits well- Keith will play less, I saw Keith play patty cake with the left fielder too much late last season, not hitting with authority, so this can turn out in a different way.
