6. Mika's decline started about two years ago during the playoffs. I noticed the following season Mika was more inclined for settling on taking one-timers. His overall shot accuracy dropped by a lot too. I remember Mika just could not catch a break last year and hit over 15 posts during the first ten to fifteen games to start the season. That's when Mika focused more on getting into position for a one timer and not moving around as much. I have no clue why Mika choose to do this or why his shot accuracy declined so badly seemingly over the off-season. Also, this dump and chase hockey is killing this team now. They don't play anywhere near hard enough for that style of play to be effective for this current Rangers team. So the team is literally beating itself by continuing to play this style of hockey.

12. Drury needs to go before any more trades are made, and before any or all the coaches are fired. He put this team together. With the exception of Panarin and Kreider, whose contracts he inherited, every other player was either signed as a free agent, traded for, resigned or extended, or brought up from Hartford by him. He hired the coaches, he was part of all the draft picks for a decade. His trade deadline deals all failed to bring a championship or even get to the finals. I’m not saying that there shouldn’t be changes to the team or coaches, I just think someone else should make those decisions before blowing up the team for pennies on the dollar and draft picks and prospects, which will guarantee a losing season and we’re not even halfway through it.

22. They faced a goalie standing on his head. They had 40 shots. Enough quality chances to score 5-6 goals. Igor had no chance on those shorties. It wasn’t him. The problem is the D and the defensive end play. But now every loss is doomsday instead of “let’s just tighten up the D and fix it”. Every time they get a scoring opportunity the nerves and overthinking is palpable. Simply put it’s not lack of talent. It’s lack of confidence.

29. Let's not ignore how good Tampa was last night. On the second short handed goal, Cirelli finished with a perfectly placed shot above Igor's shoulder. We have nobody who does that. They cashed in every single opportunity they got. They're a damn good hockey team.

31. I think the biggest problem is the GM. He should have never mentioned that he wasn't going to protect his roster and everyone's on the table.

32. Fans blaming Mika for this season's implosion are way off base. He's had a slow start statistically, but that's been the case every season, and he provides intangibles that don't show up in the stats. Same with Kreider – he's been fine, playing with a bad back too. Drury needs to treat his veterans with more respect if he wants them to perform at their peak.

40. Everyone except the goalies disappeared, and no pair of netminders can make up for the lack of effort on the ice. Guys are loosing their checks all over the ice, and getting beat to the puck and net over and over again. Defensemen are pinching when they should not. Only Panarin and Cuylle have it turned on. I would even like to see Edstrom more. Everyone else seems to have forgotten how to play winning hockey. I just can't tell if they've collectively quit, have lost chemistry, or what, but they are showing no mental toughness either.
