  1. nice addition, will keep us in games until Bradish returns. Also gives us a bit more leverage/optionality in trade talks, much more possible now to include a Kremer or Povich in a deal

  2. No Connor it's not about a glass half full or empty It's about common sense and good and bad business decisions. When you have the best guy in the position already on your team you don't let him go you keep him you pay him whatever he wants because he's the best You give him as many years as he asked for because he's the best and you can't replace him because he's the best and then you're going to go out and get a 40 something Charlie Morton and try to sugarcoat it that he's anywhere even on the same radar with Corbin Burns. And then you're going to let your fan favorite 44 home run swinging guy leave as well. When management was told spend money and get some damn players not only are they not willing to go out and get players they're not even willing to resign the ones they got. That speaks volumes that this team is doomed for permanent mediocrity. Let's just be realistic here Michael is more worried about his ego and building a team and winning a world series without spending any money then he is winning a world series. It's all about Michael That's obvious to anyone at this point with a working brain. He did a good job rebuilding the team and that's what he's good for now it's time to dump him and get somebody who's willing to spend money on people who are going to help the team. For god sakes they could have at least re-signed Corbin Burns to a 5-year $300 million contract if that's what he asked for you give it to him he's the best in the position why would you argue. If you're told spend money and you don't you're not doing your job you should be fired plain and simple. If I'm told to make sure that something is there on time or I work and I'm late and it doesn't get there on time I lose my job because I defy the direct order what makes him any better

  3. Morton's 2024 stats: 30 GS, 165.1 IP, and ERA of 4.19. He has continued to evolve in his career. Not going to get hung up about his age, I think he is an asset and will help the pitching staff.

  4. Connor, not sure how you put together such a show on the fly. It's as if you've had several hours to analyze the metrics. You're really stupendous at what you do. Fascinating breakdown of the ups and downs to Morton.

  5. So they bring in an old vet that's been to multiple world series (4 WS games, with a win) to a young roster that gets timid in the playoffs.
His presence alone might be worth the money.

  6. Grayrod: "what's that s–t on your chest?."
Morton: "Crisco. Bardol, vagasil. Any one of 'em will give you another 2-3 inch drop on your curveball."
Low payroll? Cheap owner? Promising young guys and no names? Win the division but get swept out of the playoffs?
I have seen this movie somewhere…

  7. Os and RSox go into offseason needing exactly the same Rotation additions.
The Orioles have more money to spend and more prospects to trade and a better team

But who is has better GM?
    Red Sox get
An Ace Lefty and a #2 Righty both under 29 yrs old, in the prime of their careers with high floors and major upside for a combined 21 million in salary

    The Orioles get
    A #4 and #5
A 35 yr old righty from Japan
Whose velocity and stuff is declining
And today they double down by signing Charlie Morton, a 41 year-old righty who stuff is also declining

So two pictures combined 77 years of age for combined salaries over $30 million

  8. Absolutely disgraceful. Our window is wide open, the new owners check book is wide open and these are the moves Elias makes.!!!!

Clearly, the guy is not that stupid, which means he can only be sabotaging the team at this point

There is no logical ation. There is no justification whether there be financial scouting talent.

There is only one explanation and that’s that he wants no outside help while maintaining the appearance that he’s operating as a GM and trying to add talent

    This guy needs to go

  9. Another nice move. I've been reading the comments. We need to relax. This is only back-end rotation work. It's not a surrender about getting a 1. Who would we rather see as a 4 and 5 the last few seasons? Lyles/Gibson/Suarez (who is due for at least some regression)/Povich (this season, not perhaps next going forward when he hopefully figures it out)? Or Sugano and Morton? For me, this is easy. Yes, let's hope for Cease or whomever, but these moves at the back end are clearly upgrades.

  11. Like the move. I agree with you Connor. I thought that this increases the likelihood of a trade, using one of the depth pitchers, a prospect and maybe draft pick for Castillo or another front line starter. Bradish and possibly Wells could be available to pitch at the end of the season. This gives us depth.

  12. The Os have NOT gotten better at all they have gotten worse. They won't be close to playoffs this year
And will never get to World Series as long as Elias is gm. The report on him was obviously true

  13. Big question will they keep the star talent players in the next 3-4 years? Catcher, Henderson……. if not Orioles will lose fans! Talk is over show it! We don't like super teams while we lose ur guys to the super teams.

  14. Connor: Did you have any foresight of Elias signing Morton? Once I heard about Morton’s connection to Elias and Drew French, it was an “AHA” moment. Your knowledge of the team is such that I wouldn’t be surprised if you saw this coming. Did you?

  15. Absolutely Connor! I love your line about grading an offseason after it's done. We O's fans need to chill out until Spring Training gets here. If we get Cease, Valdez, Castillo or Lopez it will all be okay. Great analysis, brother.

  16. Am i the only one who thinks the O's should really be trying to add another consistent bat or two? The offense has really been the biggest issue in the playoffs, not the pitching.
