Who would have thought maybe some veterans would help..

  1. What sucks is i doubt this means Adams will do a fucking thing. He’ll just tell them to play like veterans lol.

  2. A literal cry for help from the players, and yet I bet a thousand dollars that management and ownership still insists “the answer is in the room”, buries their head in the sand, and does nothing.

  3. Not even stirring up shit here but what kind of solution do we think we can afford with the cap space we have available? Like maybe he can find another Zucker but how likely is Adams to stumble on TWO bottles of lightning? And this is bearing in mind that he’s still got to extend Zucker.

ETA and don’t come at me with boneheaded chel trades because you know Pegula isn’t allowing big trades.

  4. It’s comical but I was just talking about this.

A major shakeup needs to happen. And a shakeup that likely sets the team back 3-4 years.

I know it’s been a long time, but you hear Dahlin talking about being among the vets and among the guys who need to step up and you see there just isn’t enough leadership to turn this around in the near term.

  5. I could see how this is interpreted as asking the general manager to do something, but what he’s literally just saying is that they need to stop using being young as an excuse and they need to start playing better and play a more mature game as a team

  6. I think Dahlin was missing quoted. What he really said was “We can’t be a team anymore”

  7. Picks and prospects incoming. The team will be even younger next season.

The Sabres are a farm team.

  8. Is there some generational talent in the upcoming draft that I don’t know about that this franchises management is soft tanking for. Or is KA burning it to the ground making no moves knowing full and well he’s gone by the end of the season

  9. I guess “improving” our bottom 6 didn’t provide the results they expected 🤷

  10. How anyone can read this quote, and be mad at ANYONE besides the players themselves is crazy to me.

People want to blame management, telling me that Okposo, Girgensons, Greenway, Erik Johnson, Zucker must not count as veterans?

They blame ownership for not bringing in experienced guys like….Eric Staal or Taylor Hall or Eric Johnson….

Tage Thompson is in season 8.
    Dahlin in season 7.
    Tuch in season 8.
    Byram season 5.
    Zucker season 13
    Cozens season 5
    Greenway season 9
    Clifton season 7
    Samuelson season 5
    Jokiharu season 6.

At some point, these guys need to sack up and play hard without claiming someone else needs to hold them accountable. Last year it was the coach. This year apparently, it’s the lack of veterans? GTFO.

  11. If not for the fans do it for the poor social media team. Poor folks having to post loss after loss to the publics reaction…..

  12. O captain my captain

This is how a captain asks for help. I hope this isn’t ignored, else we may see more with one foot out the door

  13. The best player on the team being correct about this shouldn’t be shocking. They NEED accountability and to hold themselves at a higher standard and stop making excuses. It’s been excuse after excuse for literally over a decade now with every single one of these teams. They’re too young or inexperienced or “don’t have enough help.” It’s stupid. All of these guys are talented in their own way, but they’re softer than fucking 100 ply, both mentally and physically. Yes, Pegula and Adams and those before them the lot have let this team fail at a faster rate than they should have, but the onus is on the players to actually, ya know, play hockey and try not to roll over and die at every opportunity. This goes especially true nowadays. This team has lost forever and they’re out of excuses. They can’t lean on management or the refs or whatever other thing they want to scapegoat.

They have all the talent to be good. We’ve seen it in flashes. But they need to pull their heads out of their ass and stop making excuses for their bottom feeding, super inconsistent play. I’m glad Dahlin is Captain and trying to hold them accountable. That’s what they need.

  14. I would also like to have an older veteran laden team that isn’t weak mentally.

  15. They can act like a young team, what they shouldn’t be doing is acting like an inexperienced team.

  16. Honestly, this is encouraging to hear from Dahlin as the captain. It takes maturity to be able to say “Teams that win are doing something different and we need to *learn* what that is.” Young talented players (and people) often fall into the trap of “I just need to work harder.” And then fans think losing is just because they aren’t working hard enough or giving it their all. But in literally every field that requires talent / intelligence / skill / etc., there are things people who have been doing it a long time do and know that you simply don’t know or understand when you’re “new”, no matter how talented you are. The young people who become experts pay attention to that and learn and strive to be the best. To me, what Dahlin is saying is it’s time to do *that,* vs making excuses about working harder. Is there someone on this team they can learn all that from? I don’t know. But at least the mindset is right.

  17. Anyone else worried Dahlins gonna go hang out with his country mates at the four nations and realize how bad the Sabres actually are
