MLB has Tigers shortstop Franyeber Montilla as the potential breakout prospect. He had an impressive postseason for Lakeland in 2024 after a strong season in the FCL.

  1. Props to MLB, this is a pretty deep cut.

    Franyerber Montilla – [Baseball Reference](https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=montil001fra)

    19 years old, 6-0, 160lb. Plays SS, 2B and 3B.

.857 OPS in Rookie ball, got his feet wet in low A, but didn’t do too well in their “regular season” (.406 OPS) but had two triples and a double during the 5 game playoff run.

Walks a lot and makes good contact (really low groundball %)

  2. There’s a lot to like with both Franyeber and his countryman Enrique Jiminez. Both are athletic switch-hitters with a lot of potential physical progression. I like Jimenez’s ceiling more, but they both could be knocking on the door in Detroit in 2026.
