I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to Askarov you to stay sick. Just until the Sharks win five or six cups.
I mentioned this on another video but now the clip is posted online. If you're looking for someone to reference going without socks in their skates, in the "New Year Questions" video on the Sharks channel about 1 minute 25 seconds in Liljegren suggests he'd make a resolution for Mar[io Ferraro] to start wearing socks in his skates because whenever you sit behind him it's not a fun time.
If we had a goalie with the skill, athleticism, and Hockey IQ of Askarov during the 2010’s we would have multiple Stanley Cups.
Has anyone noticed most of the Shark's defensemen are first round picks?
The hobey line is what I know it as
Love that you are back and am glad to hear you were able to defeat your illness! 🙂 I agree with your comments about Askarov. I was leaning for him to go back to the Cuda but with his latest back-to-back performances I believe he has successfully made his case to stay with the Sharks the rest of the season.
I honestly think the Sharks should send Georgiev to the Cuda so he can find his game (as I believe you suggested). Askarov (IMO) has earned his spot and like you said, they preach competition and Askarov has won the competition.
I liked what the broadcasters termed as the "Hobey" line. I think I like this nickname the best as all three were finalist for the Hobey Baker Award last NCAA season. I do not know if this has ever happened in the NHL before. Whichever nickname they get known for is good anyways.
I liked Graf's game, but I think that he will be the one that is sent down once they get Grundstrom and Sturm back as he is one of the few waiver exempt (he might be the only one) forwards on the Sharks roster presently.
My hope is that when that happens Warso will move Kovalenko to the line with Celebrini and Smith as he plays a lot of LW (the position he has virtually played every game since he has been with the Sharks) ensuring that Smith plays on the right wing (his natural wing position).
I think, but am not sure, that Graf is playing on his off-wing right now.
Once Graf is sent back to the Cuda I would like to see the following lines:
Lund Line (Eklund Granlund Zetterlund)
Rookie Line (Kovalenko Celebrini Smith)
Veteran Line (Kostin (not really an old vet) Wennberg Toffoli)
Energy Line (Goodrow Sturm Kunin)
Extras: Dellandria and Grundstrom
I think they can rotate the bottom 5 as they need and hope they do but IMO this would be something I think could work well. Thoughts?
As to the defense and Muhk I cannot agree more with you. I always believed that Pickles would end up being a log jam player on the roster and it was a matter of time before the Sharks would have to deal with it.
I appears that the dealing with it will be in the now. Moving a defenseman would be my guess as well. I think Muhk has looked pretty good in the games he has played and would rather they have him play with the Sharks the rest of the season. The question is who do you think they would move?
Pickles plays left, but could move to the right. Lilljegrin was just acquired. Walman is staying and so is Thrun (as I think he is part of the immediate future of their blue line). This leaves Ceci, Rutta and Ferraro. Which one do you think they will try and move (if they do)?
Glad to have you back JD!
I like referring to them as the Boston Boys. Smith and Celebrini from college and Graft is from Massachusetts, which is basically the state of Boston.
Askarov has to move down. I love him and he’s our starter as soon as we have one less goalie. We can’t drop Vanacek or Gerogiev to waviers, MG will need value back. So it’s either a tiny trade where we move Vanacek for a 6th round pick or Askorov moves down. I think MG waits till the deadline and moves one of them.
