[Saunders] Is Coors Field the model for publicly financed stadium success? How the Monforts struck gold in LoDo.

Paywalled article, but I’d call it a success. Even with as abysmal as the Rockies have been playing, people still go in droves. It’s a beautiful stadium.
They don’t get a dime from Coors for the naming rights, so not sure if I’d call them the model? Certainly have done well in making it an experience however.
I’m generally against publicly financed stadiums but assuming that the team stays at Coors for another 20 or 30 years, I can’t say that it was a massive waste of public dollars. The ballpark is an anchor for the neighborhood and if the stadium gets 50 or 60 years of use that’s much better than some other teams that seem to cut and run to demand a new stadium after only 20 years.
